Two of the top three teams in the Shore Conference will put on a show on Monday night. Here are the top performers from the semi-final round.
Ben Roy, Manasquan
Roy has been a standout since he entered high school. As a sophomore, he has already taken a huge step towards being a complete player and excellent scorer. He showed that against Middletown South. Roy finished with 27 points in the semi-finals to lead the Warriors to a 67-47 victory. He will have an intriguing matchup in the final game against Toms River North’s Jakari Spence.
Najae Hallenbeck, Toms River North
The 6’6 center is a double-double waiting to happen. Toms River North scored 96 points in their semi-final win and Hallenbeck led all scores with 30 points. He is a dominant presence on the basketball court who can dominate inside and step out and shoot from deep. Hallenbeck is one of the most ferocious rebounders in the Shore Conference. Hallenbeck will have to deal with the size, strength, and skill of Alex Galvan in the final game.
Alex Galvan, Manasquan
Galvan vs. Hallenbeck will be the matchup of the night in the championship game. Galvan did not have his normal scoring night with 12 points but he was able to grab 14 rebounds and be a force on the inside. Galvan is arguably the best player in the Shore Conference this season. He is a must watch player everytime he steps on the floor and he will look to show that on Monday night.
Colin Baker, Toms River North
With Spence and Hallenbeck, players like Colin Baker seemed to get lost in the conversation. He made it a point to not get lost in the semi-finals. Baker is a talented shooter who can get it going from deep and that is what he did against Marlboro. Baker poured in 26 points to help lead the Mariners into the title game.
Michael Dabas, Middletown South
Middletown South was held to 47 points in the semi-finals and Dabas scored 11 of them. He is a quick guard with the ball in his hands who can get to the basket. What impresses about Dabas is his willingness to do the little things. Dabas is a capable rebounder and defender who uses effort to outmatch his opponent.
