Eden Prairie was firing on all cylinders and pulled an 80-63 win over the Raptors of East Ridge. See who stood out in this one on both sides.
John Henry, Guard, Eden Prairie, 2020 (Sioux Falls Commit)
Henry was a player I got to watch at the MBCA Showcase last summer. What I remember about him and saw on Saturday too was his in your face defense that held the Raptors charge for a comeback. He also has great height on his jumper and had 10 points for the Eagles of Eden Prairie on Saturday afternoon.
Kendall Blue, Guard, East Ridge, 2022
After a sluggish first half, Blue tried to pick up the Raptors in the 2nd half. He was elusive in the 2nd with his quick drives to the basket, pullups from mid-range and just his all-out effort grabbing boards. After being down 27, he and Carlson were able to close the gap to almost 10 points towards the end of the 2nd half. If Blue’s shots were hitting in the first, this game might have been a little closer.
Connor Christensen, Forward, Eden Prairie, 2020 (Dartmouth Commit)
Christensen chimed in a nice game for the Eagles to beat fourth-ranked East Ridge. He was helpful in the frontcourt with his scoring as well as his ability to defend the bigs for East Ridge like Carlson, Kriesel, and Blue. Kreisel, a top 200 player in our 2020 class had 9 points but fouled out which had much to do with Christensen’s play on him.
Austin Andrews, Forward, Eden Prairie, 2020 (Minnesota-Duluth Commit)
The Bulldogs from UMD such be happy with the game Andrews put together on Saturday. Andrews tallied 18 points but struck me with his defensive mobility. Andrews defended the Raptors frontcourt well when and was extremely aggressive and in every inside player’s face.
Ben Carlson, Forward, East Ridge, 2020 (Wisconsin Commit)
Carlson, of course, gets a standout nod in this one. His double-double was the best thing the Raptors had going for them all day. His ability to get rebound after rebound while behind the Eagles shows you much of a grinder he is. In my first time watching him, I was impressed with his inside play as he looks to give the Badgers a stout forward inside next year.
Drake Dobbs, Guard, Eden Prairie, 2020 (Liberty Commit)
Dobbs is the most sneaky guard I’ve watched this year. He’ll blow by you with his speed, his handle is quick and he’s good at finding the open shot. His drives to the bucket were what surprised me, as that seemed to be more his game than the outside shot on Saturday.
