Major played grassroots basketball with the Dearborn Rebels Elite and attends Redford Union High School. Last season he averaged 15ppg, 5.3apg, and 3rpg. He was the teams leading scorer as a junior.
Major is an impressive basketball player. He’s an energy player that can log heavy minutes and brings intensity to his team. Major prides himself in being a team first player and a leader on and off the court. He’s a bona fide stopper on the defensive end. Major has a knack for creating turnovers with his quick feet and hand eye coordination. He’s a reliable scorer that can get points from all 3 levels.
Major is focused on improving his game and experiencing big moments. Right now he’s working on putting his teammates in better scoring positions through his ball handling and passing. Major’s most memorable moment was when he played in front of Detroit Piston, Langston Galloway. Galloway approached him after and told him he had a great game. This season, Major is looking forward to a rivalry game against Thurston High School. Thurston has won the last 2, but he wants to leave with his program on top.
Mark Major has a lot to offer to a college program. His energy and leadership are contagious, making him a plus in the lockerroom. Major has a winning mentality that will carry over to the next level. His defense will also continue to be a strength.
Major is a goal oriented athlete. This season, he wants to win back the city trophy, and lead his team in steals and 3 pointers. He hopes to have earned a college offer by March. Major dreams of someday taking his talents all the way to the NBA. Off the court, he wants to be a sports agent and make “a safe place for my family in this world.”
