Continue ReadingThe national signing period has already been a success with 5 players signing their NLI. 5 if you count Nick Blake of IMG, a Las Vegas Native. There may be more on the way as several players still have a chance to earn D1 scholarships. For some like M’Wani Wilkinson and Anthony Hunter, it’s a matter of making a decision. There are still others that are gaining interest. Here is the list of potential Nevada D1 Scholarship players.
Still Deciding:
M’Wani Wilkinson 6’6 SF Bishop Gorman (#4) – Add the number to 6 once Wilkinson makes his decision. Currently, he has narrowed his list down to five including Vanderbilt, UNLV, USC, Texas Tech and LSU with no clear favorite.
Anthony Hunter 5’11 PG Durango (#7)– Hunter is playing somewhere. Currently, he holds more offers than any player in the state. UC Riverside is the favorite, however, Pacific, UC Irvine, and Southern Illinois are also strong contenders.
Tre’von Martin 6’4 SF Silverado (#6) – There have been a ton of rumors circulating around Martin lately. Currently, he holds offers from Stetson, Southern Miss, and Tennessee Tech.
Gaining Interest:
Dominque Ford 6’2 SG Desert Oasis (#8) – Ford currently holds an offer from Cal – Poly. The 6’2 guard was one of the leading scorers in the state last season. He has increased his strength, and athleticism so there is a good chance that he picks up additional interest as the year goes on.
Ray Daniels 6’6 SF Somerset Losee (#22) – Daniels has an offer from Rider Univesity in New Jersey. The 6’6 wing is probably going to end up leading the state in scoring so don’t be surprised if he picks up additional offers as the season goes on.
Dark Horses:
Alexander Spaight 6’0 PG Canyon Springs (#15) – Spaight is an electric scorer that can play the point guard position effectively. He currently is receiving interest from Utah St, UNLV and Portland.
Braden Lamar 6’5 SG Bishop Gorman (#10) – I have it on good authority from a trusted source within the program that Lamar is going to land somewhere. He is currently receiving interest from Navy, Texas A&M Corpus Christi and a host of small schools.
Martell Williams 6’2 SG Silverado (#7) – Perhaps the most polarizing player in the state. Williams has received a ton of interest from mid to high majors. The question lies in determining his position, however, he is an explosive athlete that can put the ball in the hole.
