Two of the most intriguing prospects in the state representing the 2021 class will meet tonight in what should be a great match-up of potential high major prospects. The Sidney Lanier Poets from Montgomery host the Ramsay Rams out of Birmingham.
Keshawn Murphy the 6’9 205 pound wing forward from Ramsay is primed for a big year after a huge summer on the EYBL circuit running with the Alabama Fusion 16u. He is the prototypical hybrid of today’s game with the ability to thrive on the wing all while dominating on the inside. He is an above average rebounder and rim protector with as much time he spends on the perimeter. His jumpshot is “wet” for a player his size and his handle is deceptive as he can put it on the floor and get to his spots with ease. Some question his motor at times, however playing on such a high level throughout the spring and summer hopefully has shown him what it takes to play on a high level. He looks to lead Ramsay this season to another successful season.
On the other end you have relatively unknown to the masses, but that won’t be for long after he hits the court for his junior season.
Joshua Williams better know as “Greedy” showed up on the scene last season with several big scoring games vs really good competition helping the Poets reach the regional finals. Over the AAU season ironically he was teammates with Murphy running with the Alabama Fusion E16. Greedy dedicated himself to the gym and the weight room over the summer and popped up on D1 programs radar being know as a legit prospect. Know primarily as a shooter, but with changes to the Poets roster due to transfers from last season the ball has now being put in his hand. Throughout the spring and summer and fall camp season he showed the ability to be a lead guard that is not only a knockdown shooter, but someone who can run a team and finish at a high rate around the basket. It helped he gained about 35 pounds and 3 inches during that time span which will enable him to endure the pressure of leading a team on the 6A level.
Also, others to watch for in this game are 2021 prospects
CJ Burns of Ramsay and
Elijah White of Sidney Lanier.
