“I definitely think I’m underrated … I use it as motivation. It keeps me going,” Green said.
Green mentioned Tennessee State, Indiana State, Northern Kentucky, and Cleveland State, as teams he’s received interest from. Most notably, Stony Brook was the first to offer this summer.
“I’m trying to get down to a visit some time soon,” Green said. He was offered after Stony Brook Head Coach Jeff Boals watched Green play in Cincinnati with OBC White.
To stay in front of coaches, the 3.1 GPA student-athlete has additional plans for this fall.
“I might try to get into some elite camps. I plan on going to [Northern Kentucky University] to play with some of their players … That’s a school I’ve been talking to,” Green said.
The wing, one of Cincinnati’s best kept secrets, is considering a business management major.
Green is not shy to take an unbalanced shot and have an unusual release for a jumper. Regardless, what is important is that those shots fall consistently.
The thing is, he’s also not afraid of much on the court, including using a 6’6” frame in the physical post. As a junior, he was 2nd Team All Conference (Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference) by averaging 11.1 rebounds to go alongside 13.7 points and 2.3 blocks.
“I can play a lot of positions, like I’m versatile. Anything my coach asks me to do, I’m going to go out there and do it … If I have like a big guarding me, I want to play outside and go around. But if I have a smaller guy, I want to post him and get around the basket,” Green said.
He can score on all three levels of the court, hitting jump shots from deep and capitalizing on offensive put-backs equally effectively.
So, what does need to get better?
“I’ve been working on my ball-handling a lot. And I’m always doing a lot of shooting,” Green said.
One of the only potential hiccups in Green’s senior year is a back injury that occurred this summer. He is doing physical therapy currently, in order to strengthen his core. The injury is not enough to keep him off the court, as he said he is still working on his game
