Plenty of basketball players improved in the last six months. Outside of the high school basketball season stars go largely unwatched by the public-at-large. What did you miss in the last year? How are those stars playing? Are they improved and which aspects of their game are improved?
Brandon Maclin (Jackson South Side) is truly an overlooked star largely because of his geographical location. Maclin is currently ranked #17 in the state.
Scan the full rankings here.
The physical strength of Brandon is impressive. Built like a football linebacker, Brandon can fend off defenders in the lane with his shoulder. Further, Maclin is capable of creating for himself.
Julian Bond (Dyer County) camped with PrepHoopsTN back in September of 2018. His performance earned him an All-Star Game appearance, but there were limitations to his game.
Julian Bond’s development is perhaps the most stunning among these three players. Bond morphed from a physical undersized 4-man to a nimble, aggressive wing rebounder with serious college potential. Watch his 2018-2019 highlight package.
Kamarie Coffey (West Creek) is playing with more confidence lately. Always blessed with wonderful size for a wing, Kamarie is finally realizing how dominant he can be at the Class AAA level.
Kamarie camped constantly, making stops at Alabama A&M and Tennessee State University. Watch an extended cut of Kamarie Coffey at the TSU Camp.
