Jalen Seegars, a 6-foot-6 wing is one of the only returning players for this upcoming season that has offers from Division One schools. Seegars is a long, athletic wing that can shoot it out to the three-point line and crashes the glass to get rebounds on both ends. “The most important part of my game is my defense but I can also score because my scoring has really became better. I need to work on my handle and also my shot.” He averaged 17.7 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.4 as a sophomore before transferring from Page High School in Greensboro where he led the Pirates to the Metro 4-A championship and the NCHSAA 4-A West Regional semi-finals. He was named to the First Team of the All-Area Basketball Team by the News and Record.
This past season at High Point Christian Academy the rising senior averaged 8 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists on a team full of Division One talent. He has offers from Western Carolina University, Vermont, Monmouth, Winthrop, Hampton, High Point, UNC-Asheville, and Hofstra. College programs that have been calling lately are Kent State, Richmond, Xavier, College of Charleston, Western Carolina, Longwood and Southern Utah.
Seegars is ready for a strong senior season at High Point Christian under new head coach Joseph Cooper who was previously at Henderson Crossroads Christian. He is a Ohio State University graduate and had a 63-49 record at Henderson. Seegars had this to say about his upcoming season and making a college decision, “What im looking for in a college is somewhere I get alone with the team and coach and play where my coach needs me. I will make my decision toward middle of season.”
