Next up at Cherryville High School is 6-foot-4, high-flyer Jaiden Hunt, a rising junior who averaged nearly 17 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals last season. Known for his athletic ability and ferocious dunking ability I had the chance to talk to Jaiden about his future, recruiting, how his summer basketball is going and what he is trying to work on to get better.
PrepHoopsNC– How is your 2nd live period going? Who all have you heard from recently and who has offered up until now?
Jaiden Hunt– “My second live period is going pretty good I’ve heard from schools like Yale, Charlotte, Gardner Webb, and Appalachian State. Then Division Two schools, Newberry and Queens. No offers yet.”
Prep HoopsNC– What are your goals for the summer and next season at your high school?
Jaiden Hunt– “My summer goals are to at least pick up a offer and gain interest and also get my name out there more and is also to get from 185 to 200lbs before the season. For this upcoming season I plan to first win conference, then conference player of the year, then hopefully be able to be all state and also take home a 1A state championship.”
PrepHoopsNC– What are the most important parts of your game and can you explain your game to me?
Jaiden Hunt– “My most important part of my game is defense, knocking down the mid range and getting to the basket and most importantly I like to get everyone involved. My team depends on me to guard the best player on the floor and shut them down. I would explain my game as a inside the arc player who can get to the hole, draw fouls, and pull up on the mid range.”
PrepHoopsNC– What are some things do you feel you need to work on?
Jaiden Hunt– I feel like I need to work on everything. I feel like I can shoot the 3 ball but that’s what I want to do more this upcoming season and try to continually knock down the three-ball. Also get stronger with my handle. And currently I’m working with Chris Gash on footwork & the weight room.
Jaiden has been playing this summer with StormElite and is averaging 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists so far this summer.
