Prospect Spotlight: Trey Campbell (2022)
Cedar Falls has two straight titles, and the Tigers’ standing among the elite teams in the state doesn’t figure to end anytime soon.
Trey Campbell, a 6-foot-3 rising sophomore guard, is one of many talented up and coming prospects in the Cedar Falls pipeline.
Campbell’s size and playmaking ability is a reason why he’s considered among the best players in Iowa’s Class of 2022.
“Dribbling, passing and shooting are what I do best, and when I’m on the floor I really focus on just making the right play,” said Campbell. “The things I need to improve on is getting shots off the dribble, like my pull-up mid-range.”
An Iowa Barnstormers product, Campbell is one of the top players on the 15u Gold squad. Both he and the team had a successful spring on the adidas Gauntlet.
“It went great, when we went down to Texas we went 4-0 and we played well, and there was a lot of college coaches there,” Campbell said. “I play point guard with them and I’m like the dictator out there. I thought I played really well in Texas and throughout the spring with Barnstormers.”
With Cedar Falls, Campbell projects to be a role player as a sophomore next season. And could become a key piece in the Tigers’ bid for a three-peat.
“The experience (with Cedar Falls) has been great, last year I sat varsity while we won state and that was a great experience. And I hope I we can do that again and I can play this time.”
He added: “My role with them is when I get on the court just do what I do and make plays.”
First, though, he’ll have an eventful summer with Barnstormers Gold.
“We only have a couple more tournaments, we’ll be in California and I can’t wait for that,” Campbelll said. “Our goal is to go far into the Gauntlet.”
