With college camps beginning soon and the biggest live period of the year looming afterwards, let’s take a look as some of the Houston area prospects that are expected to make substantial progress in their recruitment.
Back Court Prospects
Rubin Jones
6’4 Combo Guard | Class of 2020 | Yates High School | Cooz Elite (AAU)
Rubin Jones is a new-aged prototypical point guard who is long, can handle the ball, defend multiple positions and score. He creates a lot of turnovers, particularly off the ball, excels in the open court and dictates the tempo of the game well. Not to be overlooked, his vision is incredible and his size at the position poses a number of issues for opposing defenses. @rjcrossover11
DJ Stewart
5’11 Point Guard | Class of 2020 | Bush High School | Houston Raptors Benjamin (AAU)
“It’s not the size of the dog in the fight – it’s the size of the fight in the dog that counts.” No words can be truer when describing DJ. His on the ball defense is second to none, thanks in large part to his incredible effort. He can shoot the long ball but still forces opposing defenses to collapse the lane frequently throughout the game, particular in pick and roll situations. @dj_stewart2
Antwon Norman
6’0 Point Guard | Class of 2020 | Yates High School | Houston Hoops (AAU)
Antwon is a three level scorer that can change the outcome of games. Though he is efficient from the three point arc, he is probably most effective when he is ultra aggressive and attacking the rim. He uses his body to his advantage when he is in traffic, plays with a high motor and has great athleticism for his size. @ANTWONNORMAN
Elijah Elliott
6’0 Point Guard | Class of 2020 | St Thomas High School | Cooz Elite (AAU)
Elijah is an extremely quick point guard that can change directions at the drop of a dime. He is the definition of a “floor general” who displays his leadership skills on a consistent basis and keeps his teammates engaged. Although he is a willing passer, his ability to score, particular from the mid range, is a privilege to watch when he gets into a scoring frame of mind. @e2shifty
Back Court Prospects
Eddie Lampkin
6’8 Center | Class of 2020 | Morton Ranch High School | Houston Defenders (AAU)
Due to his stature, Eddie is normally the biggest player on the floor at this level. But that is not all that makes him one of the best players in his class. He has good foot work down low, he creates a ton of space to get better looks and he is a solid passer especially for his position. With his size and skill level, it goes without question that he is a great rebounder and shot blocker. @EddieLampkin25
Stephen Faramade
6’8 Forward | Class of 2020 | Bush High School | Texas Mel Elite (AAU)
Stephen is an athletic “throwback” forward that loves to get it done in the paint. His long arms make him a great rebounder and shot blocker and he’s a force to be reckoned with when he rim runs. He’s got great hands which allows him to catch passes in traffic and he has a soft touch around the basket. Stephen is not afraid of contact, he dunks nearly everytime he is in position and sets solid screens to free up guards. @SFaramade
Mike Imariagbe
6’6 Forward | Class of 2020 | Elsik High School | Tx Takeover Elite Ned (AAU)
After being selected 1st team all district this year, Mike has turned his sights on the AAU scene to continue to prove how good his is. He is most effective as a power forward right now, but possesses the skill set of a guard. With his back to the basket, his footwork presents him with great opportunities to score but he can also face up and take his defender off the dribble and he can hit the three. @junomikes
Blessing Adesipe
6’6 Forward | Class of 2020 | Alief Taylor High School | Alief Clovers (AAU)
Blessing is a forward that spends some of his playing time on the wing. That makes him a versatile asset to any team that he plays for. He can knock down open jumpers, excels in open space but can still bang in the paint. Due to his athleticism, he protects the rim effectively and can guard multiple positions. It’s a “blessing” to be able to do multiple things on the floor at a solid level, and in this era of “positionless” basketball, I expect his stock to rise. @_bless00
