Prospects:
• Joshua Whiteside (6’5” / C / Gahanna): If you don’t know Josh Whiteside, you soon will. Still with plenty of room to grow, the freshman is already a problem! Athletic enough to run the transition, Whiteside can finish tough at the rim, or above. The six-foot-Five forward possesses great movement, and is an impact player on both ends. Whiteside is molding into a shot-blocker, with a long reach it’s easy to see why. An inside scoring threat, that can back you down with good size. A player to definitely keep an eye on.
• Troy Scowden (6’6” / PF / Buckeye Valley): Troy Scowden was a instant impact in the MOAC, as one of the biggest players. Standing at six-foot-six already, the freshman is a matchup problem for many teams. Running the floor well, finishing at the rim and length are big time positives to the Barons game. Also, has the ability to chase-down block and a rim protector. The freshman is athletic and moves very well, a bright future.
• JJ Simmons (5’10” / PG / Beechcroft): Already a capable shooter, and scorer from all over. Simmons has a chance to be one of the best scoring guards in the freshman class in Ohio. A nice jump-shot, in which he is smart with. Handles the ball well, and can run the offense to the fullest. Good north/south speed to keep the defense on their heels, the point guard can go.
• Ajay Sheldon (5’8” / PG / Dublin Coffman): Untill you see him play you may underestimate the toughness of Sheldon. Absolutely goes on both sides of the ball. Will pick his opposition up the length of the court, disruptive all the way. Sheldon can run an offense, where he is a very good ball handler and can push it. Goes 100% all the time, and has element to all perimeters of the offense. The freshman should have a big summer, as well as a big time increase to varsity play in his sophomore season.
• Noah Lawrence (5’10” / SG / Westerville North): The Westerville guard can play on ball or off, but excels in the two spot. Gets off his defender well for open looks on the perimeter. Also, can create his own shot off the dribble well, whether it’s at the rim or a pull up. Lawrence an fill it up in a hurry, when he’s getting shots off. A smooth jump shot, is often money. A potential two-way threat in the future, as he improves on defense.
