Just about every person knows that high-level guard play is a must to be successful in the postseason, and that’s exactly what these guys will bring.
Guards To Watch:
• CJ Anthony (6’1” / G 2020 / Harvest Prep): CJ Anthony is one of the toughest guards in Central Ohio and he’s shown that all season. In the State Tourney, anyone in the way of Harvest Prep will have trouble with the Warriors guard. A threat to go for 20+ any night, Anthony does a great job of penetrating the defense. Also, a capable shooter that you can’t leave open. Anthony plays with a solid IQ, that will make the right plays. Fans from all around will be tuned in to catch the junior putting on a show toward the end of the week.
• Trevell Adams (5’11 / G 2020 / Columbus South): Trevell Adams was maybe the most impressive player at the Bowling Green Regional. Coming off the bench, Adams scored 22 in the semifinal. Also, another solid performance in the final. At under 6-foot, Adams is a solid rebounder with good bounce from the guard position. Using his quickness, the junior gets in the lane and finishes through contact effortlessly. A spark off the bench that changes games in a flash. Also, should give his South Bulldogs an advantage against teams in the state tourney.
• Taquan Simington (6’2 / CG 2020 / Columbus South): Simington can play on-ball or off, to take pressure off of Tre Watkins (who will be featured later this week). Simington is an above average mid-range scorer, that gets up on his release. Simington has quick hands when he is applying on ball pressure. Which, leads to a transition slam more often then not. One of Columbus South’s guards that can really get after it and turn it up when needed. Simington’s play will be vital this week.
• Henry Hinkle (6’0” / G 2021 / Olentangy Liberty): One of a very few underclass that will have his hands all over the games in Columbus is Henry Hinkle. A solid third option for the Patriots to take the pressure off of Ben Roderick and Nick Nakasian. Hinkle is a spot up shooter that has proven the ability to knock them down. Also maintains the ability to score at the hoop, which is going to be vital. Hinkle will need to have his hands full while he’s on the court against a very good Akron-SVSM team.
