These players left their mark on the big stage at the D2 regional semi finals at BGSU.
Top Underclass Performance’s:
• Garrett Chapin (6’3” / WF 2021 / Norwalk): Garrett Chapin had the biggest performance on Thursday night, despite his team losing. Usually a second option for the Truckers, Chapin stepped up in a big way. A solid mid-range scorer that can pull up, maintaining a solid release. Grabbing 15 rebounds, the sophomore has a high motor, that never stops working. A natural competitor, and handles himself the way you see upperclassmen do. Was really impressed with the wing-forward, interested to watch him more this summer.
• George Mangas (6’3 / WG 2021 / Lima Shawnee): George Mangas lit a fire underneath his team in the opening quarter, scoring double-digits. The sophomore was able to get many open looks at the rim. Good size as a sophomore, Mangas should fill in well over the next couple years. Getting after loose balls, he played with some grit. Also, not afraid of the big moment, hitting a couple big three pointers. Mangas just finds a way to get things done for Lima Shawnee.
• Tyson Elwer (6’5” / F 2021 / Lima Shawnee): Easily, the most impressive inside defensive performance I have seen this year. Tyson Elwer was a statue inside that Central Catholic couldn’t get over time and time again. Even swatting second and third attempts, Elwer possesses good timing. Grabbing double-digit rebounds as well, the sophomore works hard and will battle with anyone. Not shying away from taller opponents, the 6-foot-5 forward was still able to deter shots. A big part in Shawnee’s win, they are lucky to have him around a couple more years.
