STATE TOURNAMENT: 2A All-Tournament Team
First Team
Most Outstanding Player: Jake Hilmer, 5’10 PG (North Linn)
27.7 ppg, 6.7 apg, 6.3 rpg, 3.7 spg
This was an easy choice, Hilmer has been next level dominant his whole career, and was certainly that all last week. He ended his legendary career at North Linn as the state’s all-time leader in assists and steals. North Linn captured the program’s first-ever title by winning the final over Boyden-Hull by 19. Hilmer went for 20 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and four steals in that one.
Conner Hill, 6′ G (South Hamilton)
22.0 ppg, 1.7 spg
South Hamilton struggled as a team in the semifinals, Conner Hill did not. The skilled lead guard scored 20 first half points, and was almost single-handedly the reason why his Hawks were right there with Boyden-Hull up to that juncture. In the second half, he got some help from his guys, and it came down to one final possession, where Hill shook his man and got up a look for 3 that would have tied it. And man, he was so close to making it.
Beau De Jongh, 6’4 F (Boyden-Hull)
13.0 ppg, 6.3 rpg
He was the best player all week long for the runner-up Comets, and it was his length and toughness that made him such a threat. It was the quarterfinal win over Iowa City Regina that was his best effort, when he dropped 25 points on the Regals during a 61-56 win. He went for a double-double, 11 points and 12 rebounds in a semifinal win over South Hamilton.
Trevor Boge, 6’4 G/F (North Linn)
13.7 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 2.3 apg, 2.0 spg
Although Jake Hilmer was easily the best player in the 2A field last week, he definitely didn’t get the job job all by himself. Boge, a tall and versatile wing, was especially good in a finals win over Boyden-Hull, when he scored 17 points on a sterling 7-9 shooting. He was 3-3 from deep in that game, and added two steals and two blocks for good measure. That game solidified him a spot on the media’s all-tourney team.
Ryan Schmitt, 6’9 C (Van Meter)
11.0 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 3.7 bpg
Van Meter placed fourth after losing to North Linn in the semifinals and then dropping a close one to South Hamilton in the consolation game. But they can take solace in two things: they gave the Lynx their toughest game by far (it was a one point game heading into the fourth quarter), and Bulldogs senior Ryan Schmitt was the best big in the field. He led the 2A field in rebounds (10.3) and blocks (3.7), and was the only player to average a double-double (11 ppg in addition to the 10.3 rpg).

Keyton Moser, 6’1 G (Boyden-Hull)

Cade Fuller, 5’10 PG (Dike-New Hartford)
