Today we look back on Friday’s game (sorry, it’s been a long group of days) by playing a little game: Who is stood out and What did they do to separate?
Who? Brandon Adelman. What? Brandon was a difference maker because the Dragons simply could do nothing with his advancement of the basketball. Adelman turned the corner constantly plus made late game field goals (a three and attack) and 12 of 14 foul shots most of which came at the end of the game. Scored 30 with five boards and four assists.
Who? Owen Boerema. What? Owen is one of the most efficient players in the state and by far one of the most under looked at recruiting wise. At 6-foot-4 he is well schooled with and without the basketball. His movement off ball, sharpness of cuts, clearance when he set screens, and body control going at the basket is so rare in terms of it’s constance. Owen scored his 27 on 9 of 14 shooting never forcing an attempt but always working for his team (13 boards too).
Who? Ryan Wyganowski. What? Ryan made threes. He’s a constant weapon from 24 feet and in and on Friday he made five triples including four early in the game for NLS.
Who? Alex Gruenke. What? A shooter from Litchfield that used the halfcourt offense to find space for six jumpers. If you know how to work within a halfcourt set shots will be there and nobody runs a better halfcourt offense traditionally than the Dragons.
Who? Ander Arnold. What? Arnold provided the Cats with a second scoring option from several spots on the court scoring 16 points. Mixed in there were three treys in the second half.
Who? Avery Liestman. What? The Dragons have three quality sophomores in their rotation and it was Avery’s three treys that stood out on Friday.
Who? Jonathan Kaelke. What? Kaelke’s late game dive on a loose ball stopped Litchfield’s chances of a final scoring attempt.
