Ann Arbor Huron vs. Saline and Belleville vs. Ypsilanti Community both needed overtime to decide the winner. The District showed its team depth and displayed talent up and down all 4 rosters. There were 10 players in the quarterfinals that looked like future college basketball players.
Trevor Arico (2020, SG, Saline)
Arico is a shooter by nature. He looks for opportunities from behind the arc where he can change the game. Arico can drain an off balance triple and has developed a nice little scoop off the glass when attacking the rim.
Markeith Browning (2019, SG, Ypsilanti Community)
Browning is fast and explosive. He’s solid with the ball and has a quick first step. Browning allows himself to be versatile with his willingness to use his strength to play and guard multiple positions.
Connor Bush (2020, F, Belleville)
Bush is an energy player that doesn’t have an off switch. He’s a tenacious rebounder and will scrap for a loose ball. Bush is always a threat for a putback bucket, but can score in other ways as well.
Lucas Henderson (2021, PG, Ypsilanti Community)
Henderson was a great MLK Day addition to the Ypsilanti squad. He’s smooth with the ball and is an excellent shooter. Henderson is an outstanding passer who finds teammates in scoring positions.
Christian Knox (2019, G, Ypsilanti Community)
Knox is a steady guard that can play on or off the ball. He can knock down jumpers from mid range and from behind the arc. Knox can create shots for himself and for his teammates when the ball is in his hands.
Andrew Leamy (2019, SG, Belleville)
Leamy is the type of shooter that every coach wants. He will stalk the 3 point line looking for an opportunity. Leamy isn’t a volume shooter that needs tons of looks. He’ll hit the deep ball at a high percentage and take advantage of his opportunities.
Julian Lewis (2021, SG, Ann Arbor Huron)
Lewis is extremely active on the court. He’s an excellent rebounding guard and gets the ball back up quickly for putback buckets. Lewis is an excellent defender who won’t be outmuscled.
Devin Womack (2021, CG, Ann Arbor Huron)
Womack is a true 3 level scorer. He has a nice turnaround jumper from mid range, can hit a 3 pointer, and can put the ball on the floor and attack the rim. Womack is developing into an outstanding leader as well.
Lorenzo Wright (2020, PG, Belleville)
Wright is an excellent ball handler. He puts the ball on the ground with force and is aggressive with it. Wright isn’t afraid of taking the big shot and can hit a triple with a hand in his face.
Griffin Yaklich (2020, PG, Saline)
Yaklich is quickly developing into one of the top juniors in Michigan. He’s a strong kid who can drive and finish through contact. Yaklich can finish hard at the rim or put up a soft floater if need be.
