But the strides Joe has seen with himself and with his teammates have more to do with their resilience than their scoring output. The Falcons suffered a stretch where they lost 11 out of 14 games, and Joe and the other seniors got the team together to take a hard look at themselves. Since they’ve turned things around, the Falcons have won four of their last five.
“Me and the two other captains got the team together to talk about it,” Joe said. “We talked about what we need to do to win some bigger games against better competition. And we responded by getting big wins against Owatonna and Northfield after our talk.”
Joe prides himself on his 3-point shooting, his rebounding and his ability in transition — which sounds a lot like the skillset of his older brother, Chris, who starred at Bethlehem Academy and later Saint Mary’s (MN).
College interest is coming in from Benedictine (Kansas), SMSU, Augsburg, Gustavus, UW-Stout, UW-River Falls and Benedictine (Chicago). Thinking he will decide after the season or in the spring, Palmer is still looking at all of his options.
“I’m looking to play at the highest level possible, but I really want a great coach, a strong education and a winning program,” he said.
