Here’s what you need to know about Section 4A
Section 4A was the weird one last year as Heritage Christian came out of nowhere to advance all the way to the state tournament despite a sub-.500 record. It’s unpredictable in nature because so many of these teams come from different conferences and thus, don’t have a lot of experience against one another.
Favorite: Christ’s Household of Faith
CHOF has been far-and-away the best team in the section thus far this season and on paper, looks like the heavy favorite. CHOF was the favorite last year too though. The Lions have four guys that average double figures in scoring led by McCaleb Alleman who averages 17.7 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists. Juniors Preston Alleman and Isaac Collins average 13.2 and 12.8 points per game respectively.
CHOF has the most wins in the section but the Lions also challenged themselves out of their league and because of it, has some good wins to its profile.
In the Mix: Hiawatha Collegiate, Liberty Classical, Hope Academy, West Lutheran, Minnesota Transitions
Hiawatha Collegiate is slated to earn the No. 2 seed in the section and has been terrific especially as of late, with seven straight wins late in the season. HC is one of the best offensive teams in the section.
Minnesota Transitions scores it extremely well too, led by Michael Emery-Minor and Kyriaun Christian combing to average better than 32 points per game.
Liberty Classical has junior forward Thomas Conroy, who is one of the best individual scorers in the section.
Hope Academy’s Caleb Hoilien is right up there with Conroy as one of the best volume scorers in the section. He takes more than 10 3-pointers a game, so if he gets hot, look out.
Few players mean as much to their respective team as Troy Kokkinen means to West Lutheran. The 6-foot-4 junior averages 15.2 points per game, 6.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists – all team highs.
