While we are all enjoying the holiday, a key question has to be asked. What senior basketball player in Michigan could end up being the president of the United States?
Here are a few likely candidates:
Caleb Bates (6’7″, F, Lake Shore High School)
Bates is simply a leader. He sets a precedent for his teammates and they respond. Bates is a scorer who will sacrifice for his teams success and get physical in the paint. He’s an excellent student as well. Bates demands respect on and off the basketball court.
Drew Jergens (5’11, PG, Howardsville Christian)
As one of the best shooters in the state, he has the makings of a small town legend. Where will it stop? Jergens never takes a night off and performs every time on the court. There is no reason this high IQ player and student can’t reach the pinnacle of success in basketball and beyond.
Luke Maranka (6’11”, PF, Grand Rapids Angels)
Maranka is an extremely intelligent student-athlete. The talented and diverse forward is fleet of foot and an explosive finisher. Maranka is a young man that is talented enough to accomplish anything he sets his mind to.
Nmeso Nnebedum (5’10”, PG, Kalamazoo Loy Norrix)
Nnebedum is as smart in the classroom as he is on the court. He is a steady lead guard who runs the offense efficiently and sets his teammates up for success. All the qualities that define Nnebedum as a player sound perfect for a future president.
Evan Thomas (6’4″, SG, Okemos)
Thomas is a sweet shooting guard who is having an outstanding senior season. Thomas’ high school career could be marked by his steady improvement. Thomas is ready both academically and athetically, to not just lead not just his team, but his generation.
