Top-5 Shake Up
No. 1 — Patrick McCaffery — stayed the same, but the 2-5 slots all have different occupants this time around. With the immense success of Des Moines North point guard Tyreke Locure during his freshman season last winter, followed by his fantastic start to the spring, he bolstered his ranking from No. 4 to No. 2. Becuse of Locure’s rise, Owen Coburn and Aidan Vanderloo moved down one spot each — despite both of them having impressive springs — to Nos. 3 and 4, respectively. And making his top-5 debut — up from No. 10 — is Kingdom Hoops and G-H-V forward James Betz. The 6-foot-6 bouncy and skilled post can burn you from deep, or body you in the post, and man can he get up.
Barnstormers Reign Supreme
Though the elite talent of the class is spread pretty evenly between the Barnstormers (McCaffery, Krogmann), Kingdom Hoops (Locure, Betz) and Martin Brothers (Coburn, Vanderloo); more so than in any other class, the Barnstormers have way more than the lion’s share of top talent in the class. To be exact, nine of the current top-20 players in 2019 are on the Stormers’ 15U roster, and four of the top-8. The substantial rise of newcomer Noah Hart, and the addition of Hoover guard Kenny Quinn to the roster has certainly given them an extra boost. It’s no wonder indihoops.com had them ranked in the top-10 nationally at one point this spring.
