Another great group of games and prospects this past Friday and Saturday. Here we break down the players in attendance in O’Fallon Shootout: Missouri and Iowa Evaluations!
C Even Brauns (Iowa City West, IA – 2020)
Brauns is a 6’9” big man from Iowa that has excellent size and strength. He was a complete beast on the glass! I mean so dominant! He snatched rebounds in traffic with two hands consistently. Got on the offensive boards for tons of put backs. Physical finisher that can slam home dunks, but also showed touch. Has a feel around the hoop. Decent passer as well. He had an insane 17 points and 17 rebounds. No doubt high-major big man.
PF Patrick McCaffery (Iowa City West, IA – 2019)
McCaffery is a 6’8” face up four man who is headed to Iowa. PrepHoopsIowa’s #2 senior prospect didn’t have his best showing against Whitney Young. Never got into a rhythm or to his spots to do damage. Will definitely need to add strength throughout the early part of his career at Iowa where he will play for his dad. Later in the game he showed the athleticism at the rim and in the open floor that makes him so intriguing. He had 12 points (4-11 FG) and 6 rebounds.
SG Marcus Morgan (Iowa City West, IA – 2021)
Morgan is a sophomore that has a silky smooth perimeter shot. Connected on a trio from deep. Clean and fluid stroke from three off the catch. He has the ability to grow into a three and D wing at the D1 level. Scored 11 points.
PG Caleb Love (CBC, MO – 2020)
Solid game from the top ranked junior in the PrepHoopsMissouri rankings. The jumbo combo guard has excellent size on the perimeter along with a feel for the game. Didn’t show much in the way of a jumper in this one going 0-2 from deep, but he did damage in the paint. Love is a slick ball handler that is slippery through traffic getting to the cup where he finishes well with either hand. Also has an effective euro step and runner to score. Solid free throw shooter. He showed flashes as a passer with a couple quick dimes, but also had his share of turnovers. Love rebounds well from his lead guard spot. Finished with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists.
PF Josh Wallace (CBC – 2019)
Wallace is a bouncy undersized post who has elite springs. He shines running the floor where he is a rim runner for dunks. Also slams home jams around the hoop on dump off passes. Was a bit wild with his shots at times. Actually made several sweet passes from his post spot. He had 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.
SG Ari Jackson (CBC – 2019)
Jackson is a utility role player for CBC who can play at the small college level. Plus shooter from three as he nailed 3-4 from deep. Also got on the offensive glass for a put back. Like his defensive versatility and anticipation getting steals. He had 13 points and 3 steals.
PG Robert Martin (CBC – 2022)
Martin is a small freshman point guard that has a high basketball IQ at a young age. Makes sound decisions with the rock in his hands. Scored on a couple quick layups and a pair of free throws on his way to 6 points.
