Iowa’s Player of the Week Poll (3)
Dom Robertson (Oelwein)
Robertson’s activity on the defensive end paired with his plus-length has always made this 6-foot guard a stat-stuffing-type player. Robertson’s Oelwein squad picked up a trio of wins last week, and his diverse skill-set was on full display; he averaged 19.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 6.7 assists, 2.7 steals and even 1.3 blocks per game in the wins. He triple-doubled in a win over Charles last Friday night.
Tate Bear (Meskwaki Settle School)
A combo-forward who’s able to score it from inside and outside, Bear proved that well last week while going 3-4 from beyond the arc in two Warriors wins. Against GMC, Garwin, Bear went off, going for 39 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. He followed that up with a 20 point, 8 rebound, 4 steal, 3 assist game in a win over Nebraska program, Walthill.
Codey Hicks (Janesville)
The 6-foot-5 big-man put together two huge games last week. First, was a 38 point 10 rebound performance in a win over Riceville. He was 18-20 from the floor in that one. Next was a 24 point, 14 rebound monster in a big-win over Dunkerton. Hicks was 12-14 from the floor in that one. Hicks averaged 31 points on an astounding 88 percent shooting last week.
Aidan Vanderloo (Sioux City East)
It was just a matter of time before this Sioux City East all-time great was going to make a player of the week poll this season. He’s having a monster senior season, and last week he was especially good. In wins over Bishop Heelan and Sergeant Bluff-Luton, Vanderloo averaged 29.5 points on 65 percent shooting (60 3FG%), 5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals.
Jake Hilmer (North Linn)
The state’s all-time assists leader has, of course, been doing his thing all season at now-2A North Linn. The Lynx put up 107 against Starmont, and Hilmer had 12 helpers in that one, also 24 points and 7 steals. The next night out, North Linn got another blowout win, over Maquoketa Valley, Hilmer scored 33 in that one, to go with 8 assists and 4 steals. That’s 28.5 points, 10 assists and 5.5 steals per game in the two wins.
