We will break down his strengths and weakness. Glance at the outlook of his future in basketball. Let me introduce to you Darian Gibson of Spring Woods High School (Houston,TX) a UIL 6A school.
Darian is a 6’4 165 lbs two guard. He can flat out shoot the trey ball. When he get’s hot from behind the arc, goodnight. He is a great catch a shoot guard. He can also create his own shot off the dribble. He finishes well around the rim and through contact. Plays the passing lanes well. Plays good in help situations defensively. On ball defense is not his strong point defensively. Does not fight through screens at time. I would like to see him utilize his mid-range game more, as an added package with his offensive skill set and play with a higher motor defensively.
Darian has been playing varsity basketball since he was a freshman. His freshman year he averaged 9 points per game, sophomore year averaged 12 points per game, and his junior year he averaged 14 points per game. Last season was also the first year that Spring Woods qualified for the playoffs. they went 19-14 overall and 9-5 in district play. They fell in the first round of the playoffs. Last year they were in Region II District 15, and this year they are in Region III District 17. This year he and his teammates look to capitalize on last year success and push even further. So far this season they have an 11-5 record and are 3-1 in district play. Darian is averaging 16 points per game this year so far also and shooting 41% from behind the arc.
Darian how are you doing today? I’m doing real good sir. How is the season looking so far for you guys? It’s looking real good we have been playing really strong lately, we started off a little slow in the beginning of the season. We have came together as a group and now we are playing good. Tell us where you feel that you have put in the most work in your game? I feel that my facilitating, getting to the basket, and my pull-up game has really improved. Everyone knows me as a spot up shooter and so those are the areas that i have worked on the most. How is basketball recruitment looking for you right now? I don’t have any offers at this time, just a couple of schools showing interest, but hopefully i can land an offer before playoffs begin. Which schools are showing interest? Northern Colorado, Blinn, and Kilgore. Final question, your in a new district this year. What is your predictions on playing in this district? I feel that we will finish first in District this year. We have Four years of Varsity experience, and no one in our district can mess with us all the Cy-Fair Schools and Spring Branch Schools.
We at Prep Hoops Texas would like to wish Darian and the Spring Woods Tigers a great season full of health.
