Veterans Day Preseason Showcase: C/O 2019 Standouts
Wilson Prep 2019 Guard Tyrone Whitaker: One of the better performers of the event, Tyrone put on a show for the fans with the plays that he made above the rim. He threw down some dunks, had some big time blocked shots and scored the ball at a very high level. JUCO programs should already be giving him a call as we were informed that he would need to take that route, he plays the game with confidence and should have a big time season.
Pender HS 2019 Guard Chance Poole: Had a solid showing, displayed some senior leadership for his team that we loved to see. He does a nice job of setting up teammates, getting the team into their sets offensively and seems like he has gotten stronger over the past few months.
Wakefield HS 2019 Guard Nyeem Smiley: Caught fire from downtown, he knocked down numerous treys in the 2nd half to help increase the lead for his squad. Does a nice job of moving without the ball offensively as well as getting after his opponent on the defensive end.
New Life Christian 2019 Wing Latrell Jones: Stepped in and knocked down some big shots when his team needed him too. Has a smooth shooting stroke, strong upper body and when he’s hot, he is a player that can grab attention of colleges and media very quickly.
Pender HS 2019 Forward Malcom Mclean: A Double/Double type player, don’t be surprised to see him put up some 15 & 10 type games this season. He battles with bigs, even though he is undersized at the position, and has a solid face up game offensively. D3, NAIA, JC programs are all levels that we feel like he could perform well.
Wakefield HS 2019 Guard Elijah Shabazz: It’s a shock that more programs haven’t got on board with Elijah, he currently holds a D2 offer from Lees Mcrae but we are shocked he doesn’t have more. He is a strong guard that has nice size and strength, at about 6’3-6’4 with a solid frame, he already looks somewhat like a college guard. He is constantly looking to get the ball up the court and seems as if he enjoys making the extra pass as much as he enjoys scoring the ball.
