Recruiting Report: Charlie Haff (2019)
Edina is one of the many talented teams in Section 2AAAA. If the Hornets are going to contend in their conference and in their section, they’ll need guys like Charlie Haff to step up.
Haff, a 6-foot-6 senior, was a rotation player for Edina as a junior and after a summer playing with Minnesota Fury, he’s ready for a big senior season.
“The summer went well,” Haff said of his experience playing with Fury. “I wish we could have accomplished more as a team but I had a good first experience with AAU because of some great coaches and teammates. I learned a lot playing against talented players every weekend. It was a good challenge and I feel like I am a better player because of it.”
Haff wasn’t a featured offensive player last season as the Hornets had several talented and experienced guards carrying much of the load. There’s opportunity for him this winter and his style of play should allow him to thrive next to Jacob Hutson and Jack Middleton.
“I improved my shooting and defensive positioning over the summer,” said Haff. “I feel like the strongest part of my game is my outside shot. I want to keep improving on my ball handling and my footwork.”
Haff’s been contacted by roughly 10 schools about playing basketball at the college level and he said he’s down to three schools that he’s considering.
College will be there for Haff but in the meantime, he’s excited about the basketball season which is quickly approaching. He’s got high expectations.
“My goals for this season are to be a leader on our team and help Edina get to the state tournament,” Haff said.
