Prospect Spotlight: Kameron Osborn (2019)
Kam Osborn, the soon-to-be four year Varsity starter from Prairie High School, was one of the top players in the 3A WIAA State Tournament last year, and he looks to build off of that entering next season.
The 6’0 reigning Co-MVP of the Greater St. Helen’s League averaged 21.4 points per game, 4.1 rebounds per game, and 4.75 assists per game last season. While he shot 37% from three, he was feared for his ability to knock down the midrange pull-up jumper and finish strong at the rim, which he did at an efficient 50% from the field. Osborn uses elite ball-handling and IQ to create space for himself off the dribble and find open teammates off of his drives, which he must do as the ball is in his hands for the majority of the game at Prairie.
During Osborn’s time at Prairie, they have won 3 straight league titles and, last year, made their first appearance in the Tacoma Dome in the last 10 years. In order to continue his personal success and his school’s success, he feels that he must be a better rebounder and more consistent three-point shooter. He says, “I feel like I’ve gotten better [at that] over this AAU season, but I’m going to have to bring it back to my high school for our team to be more successful.”
Aiming for a successful post-high school playing career, Osborn says “I could bring toughness, energy, and communication [to a college program]. I could also bring ball handling.” So far this offseason, he has been in communication with a wide array of schools, including: Northwest Nazarene University, South Puget Sound Community College, Eastern Washington University, and University of Portland. Additionally, over this past weekend, he received his first offer, from Oregon Institute of Technology. This will likely be the first of many opportunities for Kam Osborn as he moves into his senior year.
