Recruiting Report: Bo Myers (2019)
Logan 6’5” guard Bo Myers (2019) can flat-out play. As a junior he averaged 22.0 points per game and was one of four juniors named to the Division I Second Team All Ohio. Myers parlayed success in the winter by inserting himself onto recruiting boards this spring with Ohio Hoopsters (Nakasian).
Our first time seeing him with the Hoopsters was the first grassroots weekend in Cincinnati. He shot the lights out. In transition, off the pump fake, spotting up, whatever, Myers was converting shots from deep. Since then, he’s shown an expansive skillset. Myers puts mismatches on his back in the post, sees the floor on the drive, defends, and rebounds in traffic.
We’re not the only people impressed, as Myers earned offers from Air Force, Malone, and Concord in recent months.
“In the spring is when I started talking to them,” Myers said, in reference to colleges as a whole.
Myers told us he talks to all three of those schools an equal amount. As far as visits, he took one to Malone in June and is tentatively planning on an August trip to Concord. With the distance of Air Force’s campus, he’s not sure he’ll be able to get out there.
It doesn’t stop there for Myers though.
“I’m going to be visiting West Liberty,” he said. “And there’s a few schools that are going to be watching me in July … OU, UT-Chattanooga is going to be watching me in Louisville, and then Marshall I think.”
We expect other programs to get involved with Myers throughout the summer. His Hoopsters team will be in Indianapolis and Louisville before finishing out in Fort Wayne.
Things to know about Myers include what’s important to his eventual college decision.
“A good relationship with the coach. A good school, academics are important part too,” Myers said.
He carries a 3.6 GPA and will re-take the ACT again.
In the grassroots season, you’ll find a player who is able to showcase his full bag of tricks.
“I’ve gotten a lot better at driving. Rebounding, I’d say I’m a lot better rebounder now. I’ve gotten a lot better at passing,” Myers said.
For Logan, Myers tells us that he’s relied to score and defend multiple spots. At 6’5”, Myers’ defensive versatility should translate to the next level. Yet he’s more of a natural 2 or 3 because of his floor spacing ability.
Going forward, he’d like to rev up his ball pressure and passing ability to become more dynamic as a two-way player.
