Spencer’s Standouts-Prep Hoops’ Freshman Showcase-part 1

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I attended the Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase this past weekend at Inspire Courts. I came away extremely impressed with the class of 2030; there are a lot of high-upside players along with super-skilled kids right now. Most of these kids I haven't gotten to see live yet so this was a great event! Here are some of the players that impressed me a lot:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='3574605' first='Isaiah' last='King'] (<strong>Basha</strong>):<br>Isaiah was showcasing his all-around skill in this showcase. He did it on both sides of the floor, defending super well in the half-court with his long wingspan. Along with that, he blocks shots at a high rate as well. Offensively, he has an extremely polished skill. He attacks the rim with authority but can also space it out and shoot the 3-ball. He will make an impact for Basha at the varsity level this upcoming season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='3665120' first='Tyler' last='Dwyer Jr'] (<strong>Millennium</strong>):</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>He was another top player in this event. Tyler used his body super well, as he already has an elite midrange game. He gets to his spots and can elevate over defenders with ease. Along with his natural scoring ability, Tyler loves to crash the glass hard. He is sneaky athletic and gets up with ease in the half-court setting. He had a great showcase and will look to continue it into the season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='3665122' first='Obatayo' last='Adigun'] (<strong>St. Mary's</strong>):</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This forward showcased his overall ability at the showcase. He is an elite handle for his size, which allows him to create for himself off the bounce. Obatayo loves to get into his hesi pull-up threes, which he makes at a high percentage. He drives to the basket with authority; he even broke a rim at the event! Obatayo defends all positions, which allows his teammates to switch everything. Obatayo has some big shoes to fill for St. Mary's but looks to make a huge impact for them on day one.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='3727852' first='Trent' last='Cason'] (<strong>Hamilton</strong>):</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A quick on-ball guard who was looking for others. Trent got paint touches with ease; once he got into the paint, he was always looking for teammates. He is super quick in transition; if nobody stops him, he will go straight to the cup for easy baskets. Trent has a nice floater that he gets off quickly. He will be a help for Hamilton as a true point guard.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2953190' first='Valentino' last='Barnes'] (<strong>Desert</strong> <strong>Edge</strong>):</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A shooter who made his impact felt at this showcase. Valentino was getting his shot off over anyone. He has a quick trigger, which lets him shoot over bigger defenders off the catch. Along with his catch-and-shoot game, Valentino broke defenders down off the dribble, which led to some easy midrange buckets as well. Defensively, he embraced challenges on defense and showed up! He will be a big part of Desert Edge this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='3727700' first='Jacob' last='Lewis'] (<strong>Basha</strong>):</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another quick on-quick guard who was showcasing his skill. He uses his quick trigger to shoot off the dribble with ease over bigger defenders. He can get downhill with ease and has lots of crafty finishes around the basket. Defensively, he has elite hands, which allow him to get lots of deflections and be in passing lanes. He'll help out Basha at whatever level he plays.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
