Program Runs Deep: Oklahoma Chaos Standouts

Oklahoma Chaos continues to establish itself as one of Oklahoma's premier summer programs, assembling talented rosters across multiple age groups and giving players the chance to test themselves against high-level competition. The program had a strong showing this summer, with both its 17u and 16u squads qualifying for the NXTPRO and PRO16 Nationals. From established names to emerging prospects, Chaos had several players make their mark throughout the summer. Here's a look at the Oklahoma Chaos standouts who caught my attention along the way.    [player_tooltip player_id='2134456' first='Kobe' last='Ferguson'] is an all-around hooper who has continued to prove himself against high-level competition. He has gone up against 2027 competition two years in a row, consistently contributing in a major way every time he steps on the floor. Ferguson handles pressure well, shows up in clutch moments, and does a great job controlling both the pace of the game. His ability to stay composed and make the right play makes him a difficult matchup to slow down.   Ferguson brings a smooth offensive game, showing the ability to knock down shots from the mid-range and beyond the 3-point line. His tight dribble moves allow him to create separation from defenders before either rising for a jumper or attacking the paint. With his experience playing up, composure under pressure, and ability to impact the game in multiple ways, Ferguson is going to be a big problem for teams this season.     [player_tooltip player_id='2140782' first='Pierson' last='Vanlandingham'] battled through an injury for most of the season before immediately making an impact upon his return. The 6'8 forward showed just how valuable he can be when he went up against a 5-star forward in Richmond, helping lead his team to a win while holding the highly regarded matchup to just a few points. Vanlandingham brings a physical presence and does the little things that help his team succeed, including creating spacing, setting hard screens, and battling for rebounds.   Vanlandingham also provides plenty of offensive and defensive versatility. He has a soft touch around the basket, consistently knocks down shots from range, and can rise above the rim for powerful dunks. On the defensive end, his length allows him to protect the paint and swat away shots. With his combination of size, shooting, physicality, and two-way impact, Vanlandingham can make his presence felt in a variety of ways every time he steps on the floor. His ability to create separation and get to his spots makes him a difficult matchup for defenders, especially once he finds his rhythm. Shook connects from all ranges, giving him the versatility to knock down shots from deep, attack the mid-range, or create opportunities off the bounce.   Shook's combination of shiftiness, shot-making, and feel allows him to stay in control while creating offense. He understands how to use his handle to get where he wants on the floor and can make defenses pay when given an opening. With his size and ability to score from multiple areas, Shook brings the tools to become a consistent playmaker and offensive threat this season. His lightning-quick first step allows him to blow past defenders, while crafty moves and a smooth handle help him create separation. Patton's impact extends to the defensive end, where he brings lockdown ability and the quickness to stay in front of opposing guards. Patton looks to be a great addition to the McAlester backcourt and should bring plenty of energy to the floor this season. Once he finds his rhythm, defenders cannot afford to give him an inch. Loudermilk has the confidence and consistency to knock down shots when given an opportunity, making him a constant threat whenever he steps beyond the arc.   At 6'1, Loudermilk brings more than just a smooth jumper. His ability to get hot quickly forces defenses to stay attached and opens opportunities for himself and his teammates. He is the type of shooter who can swing momentum with just a few possessions, and the message is simple: you cannot let this kid shoot, because he will score.     [player_tooltip player_id='2408528' first='Bennett' last='Richardson'] is another one of the purest shooters to watch, bringing a smooth stroke and the confidence to let it fly from the perimeter. The 6'3 guard made my First Team selection in Norman this summer on the NXTPRO Circuit, showcasing his ability to consistently impact the game with his shooting. Richardson has the size and shooting ability to create problems for defenses, especially when he gets comfortable and finds his rhythm from deep.   Richardson's ability to stretch the floor will give Heritage Hall a valuable perimeter weapon this season. His shooting forces defenders to stay connected, opening up opportunities for himself and his teammates. After a strong summer that earned him First Team recognition in Norman, Richardson is set to take on a large role in the Heritage Hall backcourt this winter.     [player_tooltip player_id='2822506' first='Kash' last='Upton'] is a strong 5'11 guard who took a big step forward this summer after already playing a key role as a freshman during Southwest Covenant's state playoff run. Upton brings a competitive edge to the floor and has shown that he can step up when his team needs him most. His ability to handle the rock and stay composed with pressure allows him to control the offense and keep things moving in the right direction.   Upton plays with an energy that can fuel the fire for his team, bringing toughness and confidence every time he steps on the floor. His development over the summer should only add to the experience he gained during his freshman season. With his strength, ball-handling, and ability to take control when needed, Upton is poised to take another step forward this season for Southwest Covenant.
