2028 Standout Shooting Guards From The Platform

The final Illinois stop of the Prep Hoops Circuit brought plenty of talent to the Chicagoland area this past weekend as The Platform featured programs from across the Midwest. I spent all three days in Bedford Park evaluating prospects in the 15U, 16U, and 17U divisions. In this article we will highlight a handful of 2028 shooting guards who separated themselves with their shot-making, scoring instincts, and all-around production over the course of the event.    Georgiev utilizes his length effectively on both sides while fitting into a 2 or 3 man wing on the offensive end. Scoring wise he showed confidence in his shot making ability with a smooth step back mid range jumper while I tallied him for 3 3's in the team's morning Sunday game. Defensively he utilized his wingspan to turn a steal into a transition bucket and attacked the rim with balance in the ½ court setting. Georgiev presents some size mismatches at times and is capable of being a secondary playmaker. The most impactful skill he will make a difference in for a team for the winning column is his shot making ability.     I caught Anthony's game with his MGC Elite squad during their late morning contest on Sunday. The lanky but long wing presents shot making ability from beyond the arc as he gained a hot hand in the first half knocking down 4 3's in an efficient manner. His confidence and consistency allowed his team to get an early lead on the opponent and really stay in control the rest of the game. With his height and wingspan at the 2 or 3 slot he can also impact passing lanes and on the glass at times. His floor spacing and ability to fill it up in a hurry makes him a reliable and valuable go to offensive threat.     Lavalle's game stood out in the team's early afternoon Sunday contest with his winning hustle plays and adequate motor throughout the game. Defensively he secured a couple rebounds in heavy traffic from the wing position and helped generate a couple of turnovers as well with his anticipation and activity. Offensively Lavalle attacked the rim and finished in transition while also converting on an offensive rebound put back. His activity level on both sides will help make a positive impact.     I caught Edwards game in DFTP's later evening Friday contest. The undersized combo guard makes up for height with his quick twitch handle and feel with the rock in his hands. He has an adequate first step burst that he utilizes going off the bounce for creation opportunities. Edwards will hit angles and gaps quickly to draw help and make the necessary passing read or finish himself before extra defenders come. His ability with speed in the break phase puts consistent pressure on defenses to back peddle immediately and make adjustments on the go. Overall he will bring a combination of pace and athleticism to the floor and help a team make winning plays. The combo guard from Westosha is one to definitely keep tabs on heading into junior year.     Ten pas was another shooting guard on MGC over the weekend that caught my attention. The 5'11 guard from Sheboygan North had a quiet first half in the team's late morning game on Sunday but then immediately got things rolling in the second. The lefty 2 man hit 4 3's in rhythm off the catch and in an efficient manner to keep squads' momentum in their favor. He displayed a confident release while possessing smart shot selection to take advantage of what the defense was providing. Ten Pas will enter junior year as a dependable shot maker that will force defenses to close out and open up the rest of the floor.
