The Ohio State Team Camp was loaded with talent and in this article I'll break down the 2028-29 standouts I caught on Thursday.

A point guard wearing a new high school jersey, Waller looked comfortable in the Toledo St Francis backcourt next to [player_tooltip player_id='2195059' first='Chris' last='Poellnitz III'] on Thursday. Waller is a rhythm shot maker who is dynamic with the ball in his hands and provides a lot of on-ball juice offensively. With the size and defensive talent that the Knights already return from last season, an additional ball handler was a major addition to their team.

The second point guard at a new home, Hill played last June with the Vikings and is once again set to transfer to the powerhouse program that will look to defend their Division I title. Hill is one of the top pure point guards in Ohio as he's at the top of the 3SSB 16 U assists per game leaderboard. When Hill is at his best is when he's driving and kicking, as he creates a ton of open scoring looks for his teammates. I think even I could sub in and knock down some 3-pointers if Hill was feeding me the rock on the perimeter. While Princeton returns a lot from last season, they lose a couple ball handlers so Hill is a necessary addition if they want to stay at the top of the OHSAA.

Jordan hit a buzzer-beater for Groveport-Madison in a thrilling victory over Worthington Kilbourne. Jordan was tough to stay in front of all game as he lived in the paint by using his dribble drive game. Defensively, Jordan had multiple steals in the full court press by providing excellent on-ball pressure. Groveport-Madison has a talented 2028 core and their studs stepped up when they needed them most on Thursday.

Another program that will be led by a 2028 core, Saint Ignatius has a couple of new names who will introduce themselves at the varsity level this winter. Melton is no new name as the starting point guard for the Wildcats and he was dominant in a win over Montgomery County. Melton plays with such urgency on the ball and is incredibly active on both ends of the court. Melton's lightning quick first step allowed him to blow by his defenders at the point of attack and get to the rim. Despite scoring over 20 points in the win, Melton's favorite play was probably a putback dunk that didn't count due to a travel but showed off Melton's explosive athleticism for a guard his size. Expect Melton to be one of the top guards in northeast Ohio this winter.

Africentric will have one of the youngest teams in Ohio this season as the Nubians were playing four rising sophomores at a time during stretches on Thursday. I was impressed by Holman in the loss Vs Toledo St Francis as he showed confidence as a slasher with long strides allowing him to thrive in transition. Holman also battled on the interior defensively against guys older and taller than him, battling for position and rebounds. Holman already has a solid frame for his age and looks like a name to watch in the Columbus City League over the next few years.

Thursday was my most extensive look at the younger Cornett brother and he stood out in a battle of young pieces in a game against Cincinnati Princeton. Cornett has long strides on drives that allowed him to turn the corner and use his wingspan to extend and finish at the rim. Cornett also made multiple impressive kickout passes when his driving lane was cut off and didn't force the issue. Westerville North has been one of the top teams in Ohio the past two seasons and still have a lot of talent on the roster ready to make a name for themselves.

While it was a tough day for Massillon Jackson, Morris was going shot for shot with [player_tooltip player_id='2288381' first='Landon' last='Evans'] in a fun battle to end the night. When Morris is rolling from downtown he is a lot of fun to watch fill it up as his perimeter shot making ability is next level. Still just a rising sophomore, I'll be looking for Morris to create more separation on his dribble moves to create easier looks for himself on the perimeter. Morris is a name you'll be hearing a lot about over the next few years out of northeast Ohio.
