2026 Midwest Showcase: 2027 Iowa Wings and Bigs to Watch

The Iowa State commit has been the #1 player in the class with a bullet throughout his high school career, and he isn't going to relinquish that spot. A smooth all-around scorer who impacts the game on nearly every possession in some way, shape, or form, he's a cerebral, intelligent wing with great size, awareness, and a dynamic skill set.     A pure scorer who can fill it up from anywhere, Abbott does a great job utilizing his size to his advantage in taking smaller defenders onto the block and either scoring or facilitating out of the post area, allowing the Bombers to invert their offensive attack. He's also a knockdown shooter off both the dribble and the catch from distance. He averaged 18.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.2 steals per game on 53-37-75 shooting splits for the 3A state champs.     Alexander isn't going to blow anyone away with his game, but he's an intelligent wing who can handle it and facilitate the offense well. He has good size, length, and plays with pace. He sees the floor well, posting a 2.20 assist-to-turnover ratio as a junior while dishing out 3.8 assists per game. He doesn't force anything, shooting nearly 57% from the floor.     Miller may be a bit undersized as a traditional 4, but he has come a long way in terms of his shooting (36.5 3P%) and is a bouncy, hyper athletic forward who can control the glass and provide a ton of versatility on the defensive end. He's a player who could develop into a productive wing at a smaller school.     Rus moved back to Iowa a few years ago after spending his freshman year in Arizona. The 6-6 wing shoots it at a high level, knocking down nearly 42% of his 3-point attempts as a junior while averaging 10.1 points per game. He has good positional size and length, and his shooting will get him noticed.     A modern big-man who can space the floor and protect the rim, Larson shot nearly 35% from the 3-point line and blocked 1.1 shots per game during his junior year with the Hawks. He has good footwork on his post touches, but adding the range to his game has helped take him up a notch.     Ritze has established himself as one of the state's elite rim protectors in the 2027 class, swatting 2.2 shots per game as a junior. He's a mobile big man with impeccable timing as a shot blocker, and he can switch onto smaller players and hold his own defensively. On the offensive end, he's a good finisher around the rim (62.4 FG%) and a force on the offensive glass, pulling down 3.3 offensive boards a game last season.
