Memorial Day Championships - Top Performers (Part II)

The Hoopsource Memorial Day Championships took place this past weekend and we had the opportunity to drop by and catch some of the action, where on Monday the [program_tooltip program_id='3645851' first='Oregon' last='Prospects'] captured the 17U D1 title and [program_tooltip program_id='3566315' first='PortlandBoyz' last='Elite'] captured the 16U D1 championship. Here's a quick look at some more of the top players we watched.    The more we watch him play the more we are convinced that Hardt will not only be one of the top posts in his class but arguably in there entire state. The Southridge freshman, who is already ahead of the curve defensively and as a rebounder, is becoming simply unstoppable down on the block when he gets the ball down low and his ability to run the floor for a big man is special.     Joining the [program_tooltip program_id='3645851' first='Oregon' last='Prospects'] for the Memorial Day Championships, Jackson Satterthwaite fit in easily. The David Douglas senior and future Clackamas Cougar got his scoring on in the 17U finals, getting buckets from everywhere on the court to help win the title. It's fair to see how his size and scoring ability will allow him to be an instant contributor as a freshman in the NWAC.     Before he suits up at West Valley, James ran with The PAC this past weekend at the Memorial Day Championships and after playing this past season at Parkrose largely down on the block or at the top of the zone, we were reminded how he's able to attack with the ball in his hands. The Parkrose senior was able to create off the dribble to light up the scoreboard and also found open teammates for scores in a tight loss in the finals.     With Cogan you're always going to get the highlight reel dunks and rejections - he's already defined himself as one of the top run and jump athletes in the state. But what we love about the Grant freshman swingman is that he's going to make the little plays too as his motor never stops. He's the kind of player that doesn't need to score to make an big impact, and that's exactly what he did on the floor with boards, blocks, steals, and hustle on defense in helping [program_tooltip program_id='3566315' first='PortlandBoyz' last='Elite'] capture the 16U title.     Getting his scoring in the finals of the 16U Memorial Day Championships was Ainsworth. The Marshfield freshman guard is simply a pure scorer capable of getting hot and lighting it up, and in the title game did it multiple ways too, draining threes, hitting pull-ups, and converting hard drives to the basket. We had the talented lefty with 15 points total.     Gutsy play at the point on Saturday at the Memorial Day Championships from Reyes. The Mountainside rising senior guard was confident and aggressive in creating for himself and others, finishing several shots with his patented one handed floater in the lane, while also showing range on his jumper. In the Reyes family tradition, he showed off some great motor on defense as well.
