Recruiting Report: Tommy Jensen (2019)
From last November to this June, Lakeville North point guard Tommy Jensen has spent every basketball game proving he’s a top 35 level player in the Minnesota 2019 class. NHR caught up with Jensen today.
Tommy scored 11 a game with four assists a contest but more importantly Jensen led his team to the final four of the state tournament. Jensen returns to the Panthers along with four star Tyler Wahl.
“For our juniors coming back for our senior year we have myself, Tyler Wahl, Eli Mostaert, and Tate Staloch,” Tommy said. “Our expectations for this year will be to make it back to the State Tournament and win it all.”
The Panthers are one of the teams that have the talent, coaching, and team chemistry to bring home the title next year. To get ready for his senior year Jensen is focused on being a more dangerous player going at the rim.
“For my senior year I have been working hard to improve my ball handling and inside game by developing a better floater in the paint, and finishing better around the rim.”
Jensen has helped WOTN fight their way into the top five in the state at the 17U level this spring. Next up is the GPA next weekend and the three July events.
“The top moments so far for my 17u season have been just growing a bond with the guys on the team and really getting to know them,” Tommy said. “This year our 17u team hopes to be one of the top teams in the state and win some tournaments.”
While he’s leading WOTN, Jensen will be playing in front of several college coaches including Jamestown who has offered Tommy a scholarship.
“In terms of colleges contacting me, I have heard from St. Johns, St. Thomas, Sioux Falls, and I’ve been offered a scholarship by Jamestown,” Jensen explained. “I plan on visiting St. John’s and Jamestown within the next month. I also plan on going to the Sioux Falls camp in August and also the St. Thomas camp.”
The Jamestown offer is something Jensen appreciates in a big way.
“It’s a great school with a great basketball program and the coaches there are really awesome.”
