Recruiting Report: Isaiah Watts (2019)
Grassroots Basketball opens a lot of doors for guys the general hoops public may not have know about, and a good example is Isaiah Watts from Bloomington Jefferson. Watts has been an excellent player for the Minnesota Fury this 17u season.
Watts scored 14.2 points per game as a junior and earned the respect of many in the Metro West Conference.
“This year, we only have Jacob Bechtold and I as the only Juniors that played varsity last year that are returning this upcoming season and we expect to have a solid height throughout our entire lineup, considering our height from last year,” Watts said about his future with the Jags.
“I have been working at this since the beginning of summer leading the team and being more vocal as I will be a senior next year.”
Watts is also earning a lot of praise and picking up great experience playing with Fury Wilde.
“We won the Stanford Pentagon League tourney and that was for sure my highlight from this AAU season,” Watts said. “In practice we go hard when running 5 on 5 and that has helped make us all better in decision making on fast breaks.”
In addition to being a top 50 level basketball player in the state, Watts is also the Jefferson returning starting quarterback. Isaiah is being looked at by college programs in both football and basketball.
“University of Chicago, Hamline University, and Bethel University have all been in contact regarding basketball,” Watts said. “Other than that, football has been more abundant recruiting wise. I have visited South Dakota State and Minnesota-Duluth as well as went to a UMD camp but those were for football.”
