MAIT: Senior Standouts

Montverde Academy hosted the 23rd annual Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament (MAIT) over three days, bringing together eight high-level programs to compete for a championship. The event featured elite talent from start to finish—here are the top performers from the 2026 class.    With the Bulldogs battling injuries in the backcourt, the Stetson signee has stepped up to help keep Riviera Prep poised for another postseason run. Fuentes finished with 14 points and 9 assists in a narrow quarterfinal loss to The Rock, showcasing his ability to control the game and impact winning. The senior plays with a very high basketball IQ, shoots it well from beyond the arc, and is a creative finisher in the paint. His versatility allows him to play either guard spot, giving his team valuable flexibility on both ends of the floor. Don't be surprised if Fuentes makes an immediate impact as a freshman in the Atlantic Sun Conference next season.     The Florida Tech signee has been a stabilizing presence in the backcourt for Dr. Phillips, consistently providing composure and production. A player with a strong feel for the game, Gillard can score at all three levels and offers valuable versatility by playing any of the three perimeter positions. He is a capable open-shot maker from the outside, but is at his best operating in the midrange and making plays in the lane, where his poise, touch, and decision-making stand out. His well-rounded offensive game and versatility should translate well at the next level.     The unsigned senior is a high-academic prospect who averaged 11 points per game at the MAIT while providing consistent two-way impact. Jacobs brings excellent positional size and good strength on the wing, and he has proven to be a reliable perimeter shot maker from beyond the arc. He projects well as a 3-and-D contributor at the college level, capable of spacing the floor offensively while using his physical tools to defend his position. With his profile and production, Jacobs should have no trouble finding a collegiate home in the coming months.     Another unsigned, high-academic senior guard, Pleyer scored in double figures in all three games for The Rock, providing consistent offensive production throughout the event. He is a sharp-shooting scoring wing with a high basketball IQ, capable of stretching the floor and making smart decisions with the ball. Pleyer also shows the ability to serve as a secondary ball handler and can create his own offense off the bounce when needed. With his skill set and feel for the game, he profiles as a valuable fit for programs seeking shooting, versatility, and reliability on the perimeter.     The Michigan commit didn't have his most prolific scoring stretch over three games at Montverde, but he showcased his growth as a versatile guard. Hartman averaged over five assists per game, highlighting improved ball skills, vision, and playmaking ability. He also showed continued progress as a driver and finisher in the paint, creating opportunities for both himself and his teammates. Even when the shots weren't falling at a high rate, his ability to impact the game in multiple ways stood out and bodes well for his transition to the college level.
