Our 2026 rankings update saw a handful of prospects make leaps up our list, in this article we'll break down five names who rose up the rankings yesterday.

Genoa is currently 13-0 and should be 14-0 ahead of a massive Division V battle with Keystone on Saturday. Plantz is the main reason for this success as the 6'7 big has been dominant in the paint all season. A prospect who burst onto the scene as a freshman, Plantz has been a steady contributor, but has taken a noticeable leap starting in June. With his improved athleticism and confidence around the rim, Plantz looks like a prospect who could play right away for an Ashland program that is currently second in the GMAC.

One of the biggest stock risers in OHSAA this season, Owens is one of the few returners from a Euclid program that got an influx of talent with coach Quentin Rogers taking the job. Owens is an impressive athlete who can hit set shots, switch onto guards and block shots as a help-side defender. He isn't polished enough yet to be recruited at the Division I level, but if you told me in 2-3 years that Owens was making an impact at that level I would not be surprised at all. Fast upward trajectory for the available 2026 forward.

Another prospect who has been on the radar for a long time and really taking that big leap as a senior. Typically with bigs you see them take longer to make the impact on varsity compared to their guard counterparts but Billingsley was polished at a young age with soft touch around the rim, a big frame and a high basketball IQ. What's changed for Billingsley in the past 9 months is his body looks completely different and he's much more explosive of an athlete. Really impressed with the work he's put in for a Wyoming team that's got state title aspirations after falling short in the state final four last year.

Newark has been the talk of central Ohio this season as they appear to be the favorite to emerge out of the central region this year. With a Quackenbush on the sidelines and a Quackenbush on the court, the Wildcats are tough to beat. [player_tooltip player_id='2374231' first='Jake' last='Quackenbush'] has taken his game to new heights this year as a tough wing who can shoot the cover off the basketball, competes for loose balls and knows where to be defensively. A game that should translate to the college level, Thomas More has had a lot of success with players in the OCC and I expect Quackenbush to follow in the steps guys like Casey George and Colin McClure have carved.

Akron STVM have one of the top defenses and rebounding teams in northeast Ohio, which conveniently happens to be Cotton's best skills. The forward has gone from an energy guy as a junior to a primary scorer in the paint and leader of the Irish team as a senior. I've gotten to see Akron STVM at a few different events and Cotton's emergence has been exciting to watch and he's well deserving of a big jump in our rankings and scholarship interest.
