Des Moines Lincoln will get some help with the addition of former Boone Toreador Sebit Kallo to its program.
The 6-foot-3 small forward moved to Des Moines’ south side and is currently attending Lincoln as a sophomore.
His game is versatile, and his length and athleticism caused fits for opponents all day Saturday at the Cornsharks Classic, where he was playing with his AAU team, Iowa Wolves.
“I’ve really worked on going to the rim and attacking players, and I worked a lot on my crossover this summer. I didn’t shoot much from outside, but I thought I played pretty good this offseason with the Wolves,” said the 6-foot-3 small forward — who characterized his style of play to PHI.
“My strengths are just attacking the rim when I can, and I just go out there and play, and whatever happens, happens,” said Kallo.
“I need to improve my decision-making, stop making turnovers, and I’ll be working on my shooting, trying to improve that.”
As he heads into his sophomore season at Lincoln, Kallo is eager to build chemistry with his new teammates, and hopefully earn a spot with the varsity.
“They said I might play varsity, but since I moved there I’ll really have to work for it because there’s players there who already have the spots,” he said.
“I just want to get to know the team, and the players, and just play my game.”
Though his recruitment is yet to begin, he’s confident in his ability, and knows it’s just a matter of time.
“I think it will start soon,” said Kallo. “People will see my game and then they’ll know, and people will start talking.”
