Dual-sport star Tristan Bohr has been receiving plenty of interest from around the state and beyond for his hoops prowess, and though he’s generated larger school interest for football, he says he’s keeping his options open.
The Crestwood star is currently being pursued by a variety of Division II, Division III, and NAIA schools for basketball.
“I’ve received a lot of emails, letters, texts from a variety of different schools. Probably the main one is Briar Cliff up in Sioux City, another one is Upper Iowa, I was in contact with them for awhile. I just got a letter from Nebraska-Wesleyan, also in Nebraska I just got a text from Wayne State,” said the 6-foot-4 wing.
“And then a few Division III (and NAIA) schools from all-around like Central, Luther, Coe, and Grand View”
He says that he’s been telling the basketball programs he’s leaning toward football, but that his mind is not yet made-up.
“As of right now I’ve been telling them I’m leaning towards football in college,” said Bohr. But I’m keeping my options open. A couple top schools that have been showing some interest (for basketball) in me is probably Upper Iowa And Briar Cliff.”
He’s being recruited by some Division I football programs as a wide-receiver/safety/outside linebacker.
“I’ve been mainly getting a lot more looks from football from bigger schools like Iowa, Minnesota, Northern Illinois, stuff like that,” he said.
Bohr split his spring and summer between football camps and playing for Tim Schurring and Iowa Prep 17U, he says his versatility was able to shine through with the team.
“If we were short on big guys one weekend I would play the four, if we had our big guys I would play the wing, I was kind of a versatile player there,” said Bohr. “I think I excelled a lot with my defense, I thought I really improved by staying low and getting quicker on my feet.”
The multi-talented big-man is able to play the one-four positions and says he’s being recruited more as a wing right now.
“At my school I was point guard my junior season, I kind of fancy myself as a guy that can do it all on the court, and I always just try and do what’s best for the team,” said Bohr, who is getting set to lead Crestwood as a senior captain this season.
“I’ll just have a bigger role because I’m a senior, the guys coming up will look at me and see that I have experience so they’ll definitely turn to me when they have questions. So I’ll definitely have to accept that leadership role and set the tone everyday even if it’s just a practice.”
