We updated our rankings for the sophomore class yesterday, they can be found here. Today we'll break down a few stock-rising guard prospects that have stood out to our scouts enough to warrant dramatic boosts in their place in our rankings, some that are habitual leaders in production for their teams and others that play a winning brand of basketball that doesn't always show up in the box score. Let's dive in!

-Our scouts have come away impressed with Brown's feel and control over the flow of the game in our viewings so far this season. Brown plays with great pace, sees the floor well, and is scoring at a more consistent clip this season. His feel for where the ball is coming off the rim allows him to come up with some pesky offensive boards to extend possessions for his team, and his positional IQ at the defensive end of the floor sees him usually cutting off his matchup's angles to the rim to force dribble pick-ups and TOs. Local D1s should be all over this prospect.

-His impact doesn't always show up in the box score due to his unselfish style of play, but Williams always has an impact on the game as both a play-maker and defender for a young Ryken group. Williams gets up under his matchup before they put the ball on the floor and is really difficult to screen at the defensive end. Want to see him become a more vocal communicator because his IQ can really help direct traffic for a largely-inexperienced roster to encourage more timely rotations and defensive connectivity. William's impact as a passer and ability to draw two before making the right play is so valuable, executing on passes through tight windows to lead to easy buckets for teammates.

-Restrick is a consistent shooter with deep range for a good Calvert Hall JV group. I liked the balance and rotation on his jumper whether it was off the dribble, off the catch, off of movement, and whether it was at the elbows or the volleyball line. Restrick finds ways to impact the game as a connector on the move that can catch a pass on a backdoor cut before finding an open big with an immediate touch pass for an easy two. He already has good positional size, plays hard at both ends, and is always eager to make the one-more pass to open teammates to ensure that the offense runs smoothly. Want to see him improve his footspeed to enable him to stay in front of quick PGs. I also want to see him improve his sprinting endurance to allow him to fly off of pindowns and elevator screens to get into his shot quickly without being affected by the energy needed to expend to distance himself from his defender pre-catch.

-We moved him up 52 spots, and that honestly might not be enough. Raue has a ton of upside as a guard that can knock down shots off the catch on the perimeter, attack second side closeouts on the wing, and serve as a disruptive off-ball defender. He can make plays as a ball-handler in the open floor and has improved his burst when changing directions, just want to see the handle tighten to adjust to defensive swipes at the ball on his drives to the rim. With good positional size and the above-mentioned skillset, there is a ton to like here.

-Muhammad spot-started for arguably the best team in the Baltimore City League and had a monster stretch for the Knights. The sophomore floor general lead his team in scoring, going for 20 points while shooting over 50% from 3. When the senior starter returned, he might have had his best performance of the year with a 23-point 10-rebound 7-assist night. Love the way that he gets into gaps in the defense and isn't afraid to put his body on the line to draw fouls on the offensive or defensive side of the ball. If he can use his quickness to become a terror on the defensive end at the point of attack-- his stock could really take off.

-Fantroy excels at generating paint touches for his team, utilizing that vulnerable position on the floor to create for his bigs on the block or his shooters on the wing if he doesn't have a lane to the rim. Love his approach as a skilled guard that can contribute in different areas depending on what his team needs out of him game-to-game. The pull-up midrange jumper in transition stood out as a signature skill, while he also has some upside as a big-body guard that can bully defenders off their spot on his trips to the rim.
