Davon Harris is a smaller point guard in the 2018 class who plays for West Feliciana and the Stateline Raiders in the summer. He has been making way on the football field lately but on the basketball court he is one of the tougher young point guards to stay in front of. He tested well and shot really well at the recent combine after bursting on the scene at camp.
On the offensive end he lives in the paint and he reminded us that with this statement, “My strength is attacking the basket.” “I still need to improve my perimeter game.” The perimeter game is coming along but he understands the consistency he needs. Over penetrating becomes an issue at times as well.
Defensively, he is on who harasses players on the ball. He's got the quickness and straight line speed to stay with anyone and the bulk to not be knocked off the ball. Once he learns to play with his hands less and trust his footwork, he'll be a great defender.
For West Feliciana, he will be the starting point guard and just “wants to make all [his] teammates better.” His “individual goal is to lead the district in assists and steals.” As a team he has a desire to get back into the playoffs. There is a good chance the young team can make that happen.
While he recruitment hasn't picked up as much, he's still got plenty of time to make that happen on the basketball court and football field. Coaches will love his toughness, quickness, speed, and leadership ability. Harris has a 3.5 and hasn't taken the ACT yet.
