Louisiana 2020 Rankings: Bigs Breakdown
Dante Bell 6’7 C Bossier
Bell is currently the 3rd ranked player of the 2020 class, but with his size, length, and athleticism, he easily has the upside to end up as the best player of his class. He reminds me a lot of a young Robert Williams, with the same type of potential on the defensive end. He plays with a high motor, and is an absolute monster on both the offensive and defensive glass. He is still a work in progress on the offensive end, but he can finish well around the rim and that’s all that you need at his size at his age.
Thomas Howell 6’7 PF St. Mary’s
This was my first year checking Howell out, and I came away incredibly impressed. He has a big, thick body, and moves incredibly well for someone his size. He is deceptivly athletic, and as a result is a good rim protector, however he is best on the offensive side of the ball. He is an incredible finisher around the rim, and has the athleticism and coordination to finish high above the rim on lobs.
Nashon Williams 6’6 PF Cohen
Williams is an incredibly long and athletic forward that is about an inch and a half from being considered a top recruit in his class. He plays with a high motor and is probably the 2nd best rim protector of the 2020 class behind Bell. He can definitely still improve on the offensive end, but is still a pretty good finisher around the rim.
Glenn Rhone 6’5 PF Crescent City
Rhone is a versatile big that can really play 3-5 in high school. I would not be surprised if he transitions more the wing as his game continues to mature and develop. He plays with a ton of passion, which has gotten him in trouble in the past, but appears to have been able to keep his emotions a little more in check this year. He is a real menace on the defensive end, and can defend a ton of positions.
Aaron Ursin 6’6 C Holy Cross
Ursin is still a work in progress, but he has had some flashes this year that really show the potential that he has. He has incredibly broad shoulders and a really nice frame for a big man. He can really flourish on the defensive side of the ball, and has surprisingly good timing for getting his hands on shots in the paint. Offense is still an issue, but he has definitely gotten better on that end of the ball going for 20+ in a few games this season.
