The Bulldogs have to replace a ton of talent from last year's SEMO Conference championship team, including Division I players PJ Farmer and Chase Sadler (both at SEMO) and guard Tristan Wiggins, who is now at Missouri Baptist. Sikeston may have a new look, but they will field another team that will be one of the best in the SEMO region. The 'Dogs will continue to run, press, trap and play up-temp basketball. They won all three of their games on Wednesday night.

A trio of Class of 2026 players who will step into bigger roles will be 6'3" forward Jaharus Goodwin, 5'10" point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1894979' first='Kobe' last='Thomas'] and 5'11" guard Ben James. Goodwin is a workhorse player in the low post who plays with tremendous effort and desire. He rebounds well and he can score around the basket. He threw down an impressive dunk in transition and he also hit a 3-pointer off the catch. He plays much bigger than his actual height. Thomas has been a varsity player since his freshman year. He's a pass-first point guard who can organize the team, but he can also score. He's strong with the ball and he's very shifty in his movements to keep defenders off balance. He has a nice pull up game in the lane and he can knock down open 3-pointers. James was very solid as a ball handler, decision maker and perimeter shooter. His court vision is very good and he takes care of the ball.

The Bulldogs also have some very impressive underclassmen who played well on Wednesday night. [player_tooltip player_id='2447849' first='Jakarion' last='Ray'] is a 6'3" 2028 guard who looks to be the next big standout at Sikeston. He has excellent athleticism and he has the ability to finish at the rim on his slashing drives. He can rebound the ball and go coast to coast and he also blocked a few shots. He can also shoot it from the perimeter. He plays the game in a smooth manner. The other 2028 guard who played well is point guard Qua Allen, who's physically strong and tough on the dribble penetration. He was scoring tough buckets in traffic. He can shoot the ball from 3-point range and he also looked upcourt to advance the ball on the break. [player_tooltip player_id='2443188' first='Shaun' last='Cole'] is a 6'2" 2025 guard who really shot the ball well from 3-point range.

The Rams are a veteran team that are primed to have a big season in 2026. They were without All-State 2026 guard [player_tooltip player_id='1790003' first='Brandon' last='Clemens'] on Wednesday night as they held him out with a minor injury. MICDS has a team of versatile wings that are interchangable parts. [player_tooltip player_id='2090481' first='Jason' last='Stokes'] is an athletic 6'4" 2026 guard who can run the offense from the point also also crash the offensive boards and guard multiple positions. [player_tooltip player_id='1666704' first='Keshon' last='Mims'] is a 6'3" 2026 guard who is a strong all-purpose player. He is a versatile athlete who rebounds the ball and plays strong defense. He was getting deflections at the top and blocking shots in the lane. He is also an effective slasher on offense. [player_tooltip player_id='2348242' first='Tyler' last='Ray'] is a 6'4" 2027 small forward who is a matchup problem with his size and skill set. He has a physical body that is built for contact. He was attacking the basket with force and drawing fouls. He is also very comfortable as a ball handler and facilitator.

One of the Rams' most impressive players on Wednesday night was 6'6" 2026 forward Gabe Weaver, who is a standout football player that's headed to Minnesota. He was tough to handle around the basket. He showed good footwork and a nice touch in the paint. Coming off the bench are a pair of 2028 guards in Preston Clemens and [player_tooltip player_id='2569192' first='Asa' last='Roberts']. Both are about 5'10" and very quick with good defensive ability. Nick Weaver is a 6'3" 2027 guard who has good athleticism and a strong motor. He was making things happen at both ends of the court. Nick Menneke is a 5'11" 2027 guard who is an excellent 3-point shooter. He knocked down multiple triples in all three of the Rams' games.

The host Spartans have to replace 6'10" forward [player_tooltip player_id='2334950' first='Tyran' last='Frazier'], who is now playing in Atlanta in the Overtime Elite as well as standout point guard Jaylen Vance, who has graduated. They still have some good pieces to have a very solid team.

The top player back is 6'4" 2027 guard [player_tooltip player_id='2528023' first='Paul' last='Crawford'], who was one of the most explosive players that I watched on the evening. He threw down a pair of rim-rocking slam dunks in transition. He was consistently getting downhill of slashing drives for either buckets or trips to the free throw line. He has gotten physically stronger, which lends well to him attacking the rim more often. Aarron Brown is a 6'2" 2026 guard who can really shoot it from distance. The lefty can dial it up off the catch and he can also create off the dribble to hit 3-pointers. De'Anthony James is a 6'1" 2026 transfer guard who will add more quickness and scoring ability to the backcourt.

Up front, the Spartans have a pair of young forwards who have the potential to be real factors this season. [player_tooltip player_id='2701089' first='Javon' last='Pringle'] is a 6'5" 2027 forward who plays with very good activity and bounce. He works along the baseline very well and he also runs the court in transition. He can finish well around the basket. [player_tooltip player_id='2825348' first='Jeremy' last='Dixon'] is a 6'8" 2028 forward who is still in the developmental stages, but he has shown a lot of improvement in the past year. He was rebounding well and he made some very good passes from the high post area. He also finished with a nice dunk while taking the hit and getting the three-point play.

The Bulldogs are a team for the future as they will build a group of young players. The best of the group is 6'0" 2029 guard [player_tooltip player_id='3075825' first='Albert' last='Hawkins']. He has the makings of a standout player at STEAM Academy. He handled the ball with confidence and he was a good shot maker in the middle area and in the lane. His float was looked pretty good off the bounce. Carnel Moore is a 5'10" 2029 guard who did a nice job creating off the dribble. He hit the step-back 3-pointer and he also shot the ball well off the catch. Another 2029 guard is 5'9" Christian Jones, who is quick with a strong body. He did a good job of touching the paint on dribble penetration.
