The 2025-26 High School Basketball Season is up and running, and my first stop was the Carvers Bay Bear Jam in Hemingway, South Carolina! I checked in with Myrtle Beach High School, Mullins High School, Andrews High School, and Ragin Preparatory Christian Academy on Day Two of the Jamboree, and it featured several ranked prospects from the lower part of the state. Check out my evaluations from five standout prospects:

If this is the motor Kavontay is going to play with all season, there's no reason why he won't be in the conversation with the best bigs in the 2027 Class. Rose was absolutely unstoppable against Andrews in Game Two, putting up 17 points and 8 rebounds in just a two-quarter game. He was dominant as a rim protector, glass cleaner, and back-to-basket scorer. Kavontay even had the highlight of the night, where he ran the floor perfectly for a posterizing dunk in transition. Keep an eye on Rose this season down in the ranks of SCISA 1A.

Some of Rose's success can be attributed to the excellent Point Guard play of Robinson-Hill. Zymir has a unique feel in this Ragin Prep offense and knows when and where his teammates need to get the ball. He is adept around bodies both off the dribble and in the air, frequently getting defenders on his back hip in the pick-and-roll or looking to finish through contact at the rim. Zymir is also a pesky defender with quick feet and active hands, tallying 3 steals in the shortened affair.

[player_tooltip player_id='2299732' first='Deyon' last='Ford'] really came alive in the second half for Mullins on Wednesday. He finished with 3 3PM, two of them showing his promise as a tough-shot maker. Ford is also capable of creating good shots for others, however, and has a very good handle to create penetration. There was clearly some rust for the Auctioneers, but thanks to the talents of Deyon, I have no doubts they will be one of the teams to beat in 2A this year.

Worley wasn't as productive from a statistical standpoint as he usually is, but there were still some intriguing things to see on Day Two. Dakarai was used all over the court - in his natural spot as a ball-handler but also as a screener, in the dunker-spot, and on in the post vs smaller guards. He had a major size advantage in the game, so that might just be matchup-dependent, but it's a wrinkle that the Aucs can use to throw defenses off.

Rounding out my evaluations from the Carvers Bay Bear Jam, Mathis Campbell. Campbell had a quiet Junior Year for Myrtle Beach, but he's now the Captain of this squad and the guy who everything runs through on the offensive end. He is a calming presence with the ball in his hands and does a great job of dictating pace. Mathis likes to get to his spots and pull up in the mid-range, but he can also finish with some craft at the rim. He had 6 points, 2 assists, and a steal in the win.
