MD Expo: Team 7 Evaluations

Christian showed his explosiveness through 5 on 5 play. He ran the point well when faced with the task, reading the floor well and seeking out open teammates every game. He played best in transition and pushed the ball up the floor with the pass or the dribble. Christian was effective on the break and made sure to convert the opportunities whether scoring or assisting. Hit some nice threes spotting up in the halfcourt and knocked down a few transition threes. Overall impressive outing at the Expo from [player_tooltip player_id='2961562' first='Christian' last='Walker'].     Jayden earned his spot as a member of the scout selected Third-team All-Expo as a consistent performer through 5on5 play. He did everything you could ask in a prospect to contribute to winning. Jayden used his quick first-step to blow by the defender and finish at the cup, He excelled at making one quick move and getting by the defense to create shifts within the defense. Made plenty of plays scoring the ball and distributing the rock to teammates. Jayden locked down defensively grabbing multiple steals a game and even blocking shots at the basket. All-around star for Team 7 that was solid throughout the day.     I came away intrigued with Jordan's game the more I got to see him in 5 on 5 action. Jordan made some very solid plays offensively and defensively that led the team to multiple wins. Had no problem banging down low and defending some of the taller opposing matchups. Stood his ground consistently in the paint and secured the rebound to finish off multiple possessions. Jordan showed nice handle and speed on the perimeter when the defense closed out. Drove hard and finished at the basket every game with efficiency. Even stepped out and unleashed a smooth-looking jumper when the defnese left him space. Nice overall play from the senior wing.     Paul was instrumental for Team 7 each game. Had a multitude of layups and floaters after getting around his defender with a smooth unpredictable pace. Paul's work inside the 3pt-line was problematic for everyone who lined across from him. Made great pullup shots, shot floaters over the waiting defender when needed, and was lethal when getting out on the break. Never was sped up by defensive pressure and was decisive and confident in his decisions. Paul even showed well defensively, making some great backside rotations and stopping offensive plays with regularity. One of the more impressive guards of the day.     Matthew was a clear standout to our scout team after his work at the Expo Showcase. He made his name as a versatile scorer with a lot of skill out on the wing. Matt showed he can operate from anywhere on the perimeter and get a basket off the dribble comfortably. I was impressed to see the way Matt attacked the midrange and used his height and speed to make pullups over closeouts. Had plenty of dunks blowing by his matchup or breaking out in transition. Showed every reason why he was a second-team selection for the Expo from our scouts.     It was clear to see that Zane has some untapped potential as a perimeter threat. He had some impressive drives to the basket blasting to the basket in two or three powerful dribbles. He was able to shed off and float by the defense at times with his underrated strength. Didn't get a chance to see much of his jumpshot but his natural ability to maneuver on the floor so naturally and easily gives reassurance that he will improve rapidly with more experience. One of the names I believe will be highly touted in the area by his senior season.     Maksym was one of the hardest working players at the Expo last Sunday. He came into each game hustling for rebounds and taking on tough defensive tasks. Thought he did a pretty good job at both stopping and staying in front of the ball in transition and the halfcourt. Pretty good shooter with space and has a quick trigger. Potential to fill oput his game and be a 3&D staple for Potomac.     Thought Dezmond did a very solid job holding down the point for Team 7. Wasn't flashy and didn't have many highlight plays, but he made the right passes every game out. He knew which players to hit and when, and because of his mentality the team was successful in most of their games. The team played with a lot of chemistry and looked better then others despite lacking height and potent scoring. I believe the game can be most effected by the point guard since that's who has the ball every possession. Dezmond showed maturity beyond his years in his output at the Expo.
