The Expo: DEFENSE

<p>The Expo was a top notch event with a high number of high quality players. It's a showcase event, so it makes my day when I see players selling out on the defensive end of the basketball court. He was so impressive, but we'll stick to his D for now. Ivey had a strong frame and could play a physical style and defend all over the floor. He even picked up at least 1 block protecting the rim.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Marshall caught my eye early in the event. He came out of the gates ready to defend. Marshall was talking and calling out screens. His teammates always knew where he was and where he was going. Marshall created havoc for the opposing offense with his quick feet and quick hands.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">I'm just going to throw this out there. I'm VERY familar with Goines and his game and this is a young man that can play at the next level. In another lifetime, defense was his weakness. Now he's 1 of the top perimeter help defenders around. Goines can run the fake and fade like a pro. And he was doing it and doing it well at The Expo.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">VanWagner has the chance to be an elite post defender. He drew a tough assignment right off jump street on Saturday and did a great job holding his own. VanWagner was always a threat with hands high altering shots. I saw a couple blocks on the day.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Burrel definitely caught my eye in Grand Rapids with his defense. He had an eye for the ball and good defensive vision to go with it. I saw Burrel pick an offensive players pocket.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Ruth made his presence felt on the defensive end of the floor. His was so pesky with his D, playing aggressive and electric perimeter defense. Ruth had a ton of energy on that end of the floor and it was tough for offensive players to match it.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">I'm a huge fan of guards that can play defense from behind. Lewis did just that. An opponent had created a lane and Lewis stepped off his man and blocked the finish attempt from behind.</p>
