The CBG Fall Team Camp took place at the Henrico Sports and Event Center this past weekend, with two days of action featuring some top tier teams from Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina. With four courts of action and over 30 teams in attendance, there were a number of players who made an impression on the coaches and scouts in attendance. Here's a look at some of the top 2028 and 2029 performers in the event.

Bunch was named the Breakout Player of the team camp, after he put on an absolute show for an undermanned NoCo team that took on a gauntlet of a schedule, and he showed a blend of poise, maturity and skill that is well beyond his years. The 6'2” guard wasted no time showing his ability to score it, making shots from deep off the catch and off the bounce, and getting in the lane where he drew contact and showed a variety of finishes in the midrange and at the rim. The way he controlled the game was the most impressive as he was fantastic in ball screens and dribble hand-offs, he changed speeds well and controlled the tempo handling pressure well, he was great as a decision maker delivering on point passes, he scored it efficiently from all three levels, and he was a tone setter on the defensive end too.

Fitzgerald was a standout at Flint Hill last season and had a breakout summer playing up on Higher Level's 17U team, and he transferred to Highland before the school year and reclassified to the 2028 class and is emerging as a young prospect D1 coaches should get involved with sooner rather than later. He's a walking mismatch at 6'7” with his ability to play multiple positions and impact the game across the board, and while he's a rangy and explosive athlete he also has a bit of an “old man” game with his ability to use angles and hit awkward in between shots at a good clip. He is able to get to spots using limited dribbles and make pull-ups and floaters in the midrange, he can attack the glass and is a good rebounder on both ends, he can stretch the floor off the catch from deep, he plays with a good motor on both ends, and he is super impactful and efficient in a number of different ways.

[player_tooltip player_id='2966230' first='Devan' last='Howe'] | 6'0” PG | Gainesville '28

Howe was very impressive for a Gainesville team that looks like they'll be a tough out this year in NOVA public schools, as he showed a lot of maturity at the lead guard position and made winning plays consistently. He was a wizard with the ball in his hands as he handled pressure and controlled the tempo, while also breaking down defenders in isolation and running the pick-and-roll as well as you can ask of a young guard. He showed good patience and let plays develop while making good reads and delivering passes on point, he scored the ball efficiently from all three levels off the bounce, and he exhibited a mellow poise where he never got too high or too low that made him seem even more in control of the game than he already was.

[player_tooltip player_id='2440984' first='Brayden' last='Ragland'] | 6'6” WF | Highland '29

Ragland was a standout freshman at Northside in Roanoke last year where he helped lead the Vikings to another state tournament appearance, and he decided to transfer to Highland and reclassify to the 2029 class, and he's making a case for one of the top freshmen in the state after his play this summer and at the team camp. The 6'6” forward was absolutely phenomenal looking like the best player on the floor in multiple games, showing a lot of versatility as an inside-out threat, and it's clear he still has a lot of room to get better moving forward as well. He shot the ball very well from deep off the catch, he showed explosive leaping and thunderous finishing ability above the rim, he was strong enough to play through contact in the paint, and he played with a great motor on both ends and attacking the glass as well.

Niles Mason | 6'6” PF | Steward '29

Mason was highly impressive as well as a true freshman who was essentially making his high school debut for Steward School, as he was super productive and impactful in both of their games, including a 28 point effort in a close loss to Gainesville for a very young but talented Steward squad. The 6'6” forward is an absolute dog on the court, playing with a tremendous motor on both ends of the floor, and he's a walking mismatch with his blend of size and skill and his understanding of his game that makes him efficient as well. He was dynamite in the midrange and high post area as he was able to get to spots and make contested shots in the midrange, he finished very well around the rim with both hands and through traffic, he attacked the glass with grit on both ends of the floor, and he got to the line often where he converted at a high rate as well.

Blake Watkins | 6'0” SG | Steward '29

Watkins was another impressive youngster for Steward, and the two of them have a chance to build something special moving forward as they will play and produce quite a bit for this team despite their lack of experience. When it comes to young shooting guards, you won't find many that are more confident than he is, as he stayed aggressive and shot ready, getting them up and showing the ability to knock down tough shots from multiple levels. He shot it well from deep off the catch and off the bounce, he showed the ability to isolate on the wing and in the corners to get to spots off the bounce in the midrange and at the rim, and he was good running the pick-and-roll and creating shots for himself in doing so.

Kade Winiarski | 6'0” CG | Trinity Episcopal '29

Winiarski was highly impressive for TES as he started despite being on the football field for the last few months, and while he may not look like it he's an absolute killer who brings great toughness on both ends of the floor. He's an all-out type of player who showed a great motor and toughness, diving for loose balls and flying around the court defensively, while also showing fearlessness getting into to the teeth of the defense and playing through contact. He shoots a great ball from deep and is very efficient from beyond the arc, he is shifty off the bounce and a sneaky athlete when he gets to the rim, and he has great feel and a high IQ for a player his age too.
