D2s Get Early Steals in Pair of Talented Post Prospects
Massive weekend for D2 programs on the recruiting trail in Illinois as they land two of the top post players in the 2026 class. As we have talked about for the last year recruiting has changed so much in recent years with schools relying on the transfer portal. Two programs got absolute steals because of it!
Let's start with the current #3 player in the state Libertyville center

committing to D2 Winona State. Yes you read that right. Yes the 2026 class is down. But that is INSANE! Some of the prospects that have got looks over him in this recruiting cycle is absolutely absurd. Winona State is the beneficiary of it. They jumped in early made him feel wanted and got it done before the season even started. He could have played the season and even into the spring to get a D1 offer. The Libertyville big man went where he was wanted, to a school that has a proven track record of developing/excelling with Illinois players, and where he will play right away. He is a floor stretching big that has size. Those dudes play in today's game! He can shoot it as well as any post in this class, has skilled post moves, and is a plus area rebounder. Home run for Winona State!
The other is a late bloomer in Intrinsic Downtown 2026 center

who committed to D'Youville on Friday night. Love this get for the D2 program. Carter is a prospect that many didn't get to see because of not playing on a shoe circuit or the Prep Hoops Circuit and doesn't attend a major high school. Our Steve Parham was one of the first to see him and thought highly of him. Myself and the rest of our staff evaluated him for the first time at The EXPO a couple weekends ago and after that he will debut as a top 30 prospect in our rankings. Carter is a defensive force blocking shots and protecting the rim at a high level. Did it both around the rim and on the perimeter. Physical rebounder in his area and has athletic pop finishing around the hoop. Ton of upside as a 6'8” five.
D1s will be wishing they had invested more time in these two down the line and it will cost them then!
