Region 6: Small School Standouts

The Sixth Region only features three “small schools,” Evangel Christian, Whitefield Academy, and Holy Cross (Louisville), but that doesn't mean there's a shortage of talent. Evangel reached the state semifinals just two seasons ago and has consistently produced impact players. While some of these programs have felt the effects of graduation losses or transfers to larger schools in the area, there's still plenty of ability on these rosters. From already ranked prospects to unranked players poised for breakout seasons, these schools remain worth watching.    Although he didn't suit up for Evangel last season, [player_tooltip player_id='2876729' first='Pablo' last='Molina'] has generated plenty of excitement. College programs such as Furman, Liberty, and Marshall have already shown interest, and it's easy to see why. Molina plays with relentless energy and a physical edge, attacking the glass and defending with length that makes him disruptive around the rim. Offensively, he's comfortable finishing with either hand, has reliable footwork in the post, and isn't afraid to rise up for a dunk. His blend of motor, size, and touch makes him a promising prospect to watch.     Tresson made an immediate impact for Holy Cross as a freshman, stepping into the starting lineup and proving he could hold his own against varsity competition. He showed confidence with the ball in his hands, scoring in different ways while also keeping teammates involved in the offense. His ability to contribute across the board stood out, as he averaged 10.6 points per game and added 4.1 rebounds, numbers that led all returning players for the program. At 6-foot-3, he brings valuable size to the backcourt and gives Holy Cross a versatile piece who can score, rebound, and facilitate. With that experience under his belt, he looks poised to take on an even bigger role for the Cougars.     Isaac averaged 6.2 points last season, the second-highest among returning players, while also contributing 4.5 rebounds per game. He's expected to take on a larger role this year, with his ability to move effectively on and off the ball creating quality scoring opportunities. He has a reliable shot, particularly from the corner, that makes him a consistent threat in the offense.     On an Evangel team that graduated its top four scorers, [player_tooltip player_id='2479670' first='Dylan' last='Kruse'] has a chance to step into a much bigger role this season. He appeared in nine games last year, finishing with seven points and four rebounds.     Jaxon Morris was one of just three Wildcats to play in all 31 games last season, leading the team with 14.2 points per game. He connected on 59 threes at a 37% rate, displaying deep range and smooth mechanics. Morris handles the ball well, finishes at the rim, and thrives in transition, giving him the tools to be a versatile scoring threat.     [player_tooltip player_id='2125720' first='Noah' last='Towler'] was the third-leading scorer for the Wildcats last season, averaging five points per game while providing steady contributions on both ends of the floor. He excels in transition with his quickness and has a knack for jumping passing lanes to create turnovers. Defensively, Towler stays alert and reads the floor well, giving him an edge as a perimeter defender. On the offensive end, he connected on 14 threes last year and has to be accounted for when left open. With his ability to impact the game in multiple areas including scoring, defending, and pushing the pace, Towler brings valuable versatility to the lineup.     [player_tooltip player_id='2394154' first='Gavin' last='Dowdle'] brings solid size to the floor and was a consistent contributor for the Wildcats last season, appearing in 26 games and averaging five points and 4.2 rebounds. He plays with a physical edge, whether he is attacking the rim, battling for position, or crashing the boards. Dowdle can hold his own defensively in the paint, using his strength and effort to contest shots and secure rebounds. Offensively, he shot 45.8 percent from the field and has the ability to finish through contact.
